Stopped by my LHS and came out with a 144th scale Minicraft VC-54C Scared Cow. I think it's inline ( get it  ) for some Merlin engines and an RCAF/ RCN post war colour scheme.  :drink:

Braz are re-issuing the engines for it, but I thought you would have tried it in 1/72nd as braz are also doing the conversion set for the new Revell kit

Just picked up the new Academy 1/72 F-4J USN 'Showtime 100' Phantom II from Tiger Hobbies.

Looks an absolute belter of a kit.

Built it yet ?  ;)

Not as yet.
Chris.

I owe the Capt'n a favour so I'll dig out some spare Merlins.

Looks like my 2 1/48 F-16s are cursed!! :banghead: The Tamiya kit was probably lost in the mail... it's been over a month and it should've been delivered 2 weeks ago...

Some postal worker probably thought it'd make a great present for his son's birthday.

Or even for his own birthday...

Thanks to Colin at Freightdog, the Pegasus 1/72 XP-40Q. What a GORGEOUS little kit! Fine detail, not too much flash, and cheap. Almost seems a shame to whif it...

Built a couple, it's a nice kit
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks Narses, it's definitely leaps and bounds ahead of my only other one, the Buchon. I can't wait to start it!

After work another package was waiting for me: the Academy-Minicraft 1/72 Early Version Vega PV-1 Ventura, to be done as a R/W RNZAF example. It was only NZ$20 and looks very nice, although I may need to invest in replacement, accurate cowls.

I've heard that a lot. Except it's not. Comparing my plastic with photos of the FROG parts they're quite different - the FROG has a simpler, one-piece engine face with chunkier prop for example.

Also check out the first page of the FROG/spawn instructions: http://s61.radikal.ru/i172/1110/c3/b83e9a3eeb08.jpg
And the Academy-Minicraft/Academy/Minicraft instructions: http://nofineline.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/VenturaInstruct1.jpg

If it's a copy, it's an extensively retooled copy. Myth BUSTED.

You're right Zac, the Academy/Minicraft PV-1 is actually a re-box of the Hasegawa kit

Captain Canada

Check out my blog to see the cool 350 scale stuff I have just received from Iron Shipwrights. If I would have been on the ball I would have noticed that they are doing a 25% off via Paypal deal, so with the 10 bucks I saved on this small order I could have bought somat extra ! Oh well, it's a good excuse to go order a few more bits
