I got one on Friday after work from local auction site TradeMe: the Pioneer 2 1/72 Yak-15 for NZ$6 plus postage. A very shiny kit - not a Firefly reference (I already tried dry-fitting the wing and it's bad) but the plastic is very glossy - that should be a little fun somewhere down the road.

Finally got my sticky mitts on a Scalextric 1/32 Ford Falcon XB.

There's lucky, they're heavily sought after in slotracing circles. Does it have a sidewinder or front engine chassis?

No idea, but this is the one I got:

http://www.scalextric.com/us-en/ford-xb-falcon-c3491.html

I've only cracked the case open, haven't even removed it from the base yet - a 'down the line' project.
I don't know about slot cars, I was only after it as the basis for the Max Coupe.

Cheers

Looks excellent Rick, a good buy.

You'll see where the motor is when you strip the body shell off.

True.

He makes a large range of multi-scaled slot car bodies... some good stuff there.

Patto also does a huge range of decals, obviously for cars, but they offer scope for Whiffed aircraft models too.

Had to check this up, Scalemates is correct.  It say's the Mistral is a rebox with updated and new parts.  The timeline say's it was released 1980 with new parts.

It's not immediately clear on the timeline but it does indeed say new parts.  I thought (mistakenly) that they would have had a new timeline if it was given a different kit number AND name.
My mistake.

Apologies if it appeared if I was poking you.  I've been caught out myself in the past, the timeline isn't always obvious.  The Airfix Lanc is a confusing one as they include all boxings of every kit that's ever been released which includes three completely different toolings along with updated parts.

I've got no problem with that.  Tell me if i'm wrong.  I might argue but i'll fess up in the end.

Built one of them in PDRV navy colours.  My notes say "Crude kit, no U/C well detail, Little other detail.  Very very thick canopy.  Inlet & exhaust needed work.  OK if cheap.".  They also say "Fun".
IIRC I tried fitting a pair of Airfix Yak 9 wings.  They would work (and be an improvement) but being thicker would need PSR at the roots.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

1/72 Revell B-17G,
The idea is to use the Canberra PR9 wings with it. Tempted to use the cockpit area on the upper fuselage of the Airfix B-29.
Guns to be used on the Heller DC-6B ASW/GR.

KiwiZac

Thanks Fred - as it is, the wings are too fat compared to the roots!

Thanks to Bungle, these arrived today. The timing couldn't be better: we had our quarterly flat inspection (we don't need to be present, but we worry what notes we'll find) and I've come home at lunchtime sick, so it was a nice boost so find the package.

Both these will be real world: the Hunter as a tribute to the Shoreham Air Show victims, and the Lightning as a T.5 (I have an old Airfix F.3ish to donate a new belly tank) being restored to fly in the States.

Off eBay (as free but slow postage)

1/72nd Trumpeter Su-24MR Fencer E

Nice to get a decent kit as opposed to the rather more speculative Dragon kit, seems inspired by the Streem kit, so looks OK. Got the correct forward fuselage for the Fencer E/F but missed the camera fairing  :banghead:, has the Fencer D weapons but not the ECM pod.

Will most certainly get the Fencer D kit when it appears

One of my personal Holy Grail kits: a Banday 1:72 Sanka (set), from fellow modeler Runway ? ... a.k.a. Chris from UK. Thanks a lot!

Further additions: an 1:72 Hobby Craft F-86F (to be converted with an Australian Avon fuselage) and a Heller 1:72 Tempest Mk. V (to be converted into a Mk. I).

A PM Models 1:72 Fokker D.XXI without box arrived, too, fodder for the BoB GB and to be built as a Norwegian aircraft.

A deal I could not resist: a Hobby Boss F4F combo of the F4F-3, FM-1 and FM-2 for EUR 3,- apiece. No plan yet, they were just cheap. But maybe the -3 finds use in the BoB GB? France ordered some, as well as Greece. Denmark, perhaps?  ;D

A quick trip to my LHS nets :

Academy B-17 C/D
Airfix Spit mkIa
Revell Fury mk.I

Also got a tin of Humbrol 84, two tubes of glue, and 2 sheets of .030 styrene.

Dead cheap in a charity shop in Kington (a small Herefordshire town)  a 1/180 scale Oseberg Viking ship.   I built one OOB many decades ago ......I think a Heller offering......and for £1.50 I couldn't leave it in the shop.

Jeepers, haven't seen one of them for years!

But it should be 'HP', not 'HS', our Howard of Effingham will be apoplectic over that!  ;D

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
