Thanks Rheged.

Kitnut - I didn't look too closely.  The bloke selling it looked a bit too keen to try the hard sell routine on me.
I can only imagine  the size of the piece of wet'n'dry covered glass you'd need to sand it...

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I'll be looking at your link later, mate. ;D

Much as I like your Kawanishi, I agree Sykotik's Dragonfly Flyer is probably more deserving of the win but fate is what it is & you now have a 1st Place award for the mantle piece.

A car modeller friend said "of course it won, it has wings".  But I don't ascribe to that particular conspiracy theory.

Some minor painting on the kitty Zero today but most work focussed on the 1 week Toyota.

I have not seen the judging sheets for that category, but I would hazard a guess that it would have been very close spread and it may have been as simple as the points in references which can knock a model out in the first stage judging, cruel and harsh perhaps in Sci Fi, but it is according to the competition guidelines and judging criteria as it stands.

Pretty sure Simon will be plotting something even better next year and I for one will certainly be looking forward to that.

zenrat

Hmmmm.
I've never been keen on judging but then i've also seen some travesty results in voted shows,
There is no perfect system it seems.

#1851
Uncle duties again this weekend but I snuck out to complete repairs to the Sky Pirate Kaewanishi.  And knocked off the third Oerlikon barrel.
No.1 went when packing it for the Ballarat NNL.
No.2 went when unpacking it at Expo.
No.3 went this morning and now No.4 is gluing and awaiting paint.  Hopefully I can get it finished and into the display cabinet without losing it again.

Should be ok, things in threes and that
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

zenrat

Well I got barrel #4 painted and then successfully installed the model back in its display cabinet where it will stay for the foreseeable future as it is now retired from being shown (I only ever take them to an individual show once).

Masked the H-21 today (which I had previously sprayed with silver car paint) and put on some blue enamel.  It's going to be in Vic Air livery.  This is the same company as the trimotor beaufighter (in the pic above) but a more modern version with the cream dropped for NMF.

Also, having decalled it yesterday today I cleared the Javelina.

Interesting way of displaying larger models

They are too big for the depth of the shelves otherwise.  When I run out of room again I plan to put shallow glass shelves across the front of them.  But that will not happen until I have filled the "Shed Dresser" I am building.

Unmasked the H-21 today. It needs some touching up and then clearing followed by decals.

Also painted some of the cab interior of the Kraz and did some work on the fiddley bits of El Beau.

Looks great!!  Looking forward to this being completed for sure, and definitely El Beau............

This is such a cool idea....   makes me want to build up a Chinook Airliner.

Thanks guys.
The cheat lines over the windows will be terminated at the rear with VicAir logos and there will be a big blue V on each fin.
As I used the kits troop carrying hammock seats rather than add airline seats it's obviously a budget carrier.

Doors still need to be painted silver and then masked up for stripes.

I mostly concentrated on El Beau today.  Painting some fiddley bits including the canopy framing.

When I planned the colour scheme I located the black stripes on the wings, and consequently the "roundels" exactly where the underwing rockets are mounted.
Oh well, c'est la whiff...
