......and the bit that carries the wheel in place.

That'll be the hub & carrier then.  ;D ;)

Yes and no.  Because of the way they are moulded the hubs are integral with the wheels and the brake discs are mounted inside them.
So I guess these are just the carriers.  Although they look suspiciously like slices of styrene tube with small pieces of rod glued to them...

Nothing done today.  Had to put in a full day's work.

Now that's not very nice of them, is it ? Come the Revolution

Back to the usual 5 hour shift today.

Which meant time to continue scratchbuilding the Bugatti's front suspension, paint the Evo Zero's underparts and paint some more of the other thing.

A slight deviation from modelling today.  We are being plagued by noisey miners so I joined forces with the magpies and the wattle birds and am taking pot shots at them with my nerf gun in an attempt to drive them away.

Other than than my modelling was truncated by a long chat over the fence with Mad Aunt Phoebe next door.  I did still get some done however and have got the front wheels on the Evo Zero.  This was not without trauma as due to my lowering the rims interfered with the lower suspension arms.
The rear wheels will require the track to be narrowed so they fit within the wheel arches.
I also built some shock mounts on the Bugatti.

I had to look that up as I was only aware of Mynah birds and thought you were involved with some sort of "Green Commando" group  ;)

TBH I had to check the spelling.

I got the rear track of the Evo Zero narrowed today.  It's now a true kerbside build - do not look underneath!
I'm going to have to re do the front now as while the tyres clear the arches they are obviously wider track than the rears and IRL would create noise and burning rubber smell everytime it hit a bump (been there, done that).

Bugatti front end is done for now and I have begun carving away the bodywork to clear my modifications.

Three wheels on my Evo!
I have solved the problem of narrowing the front track by gluing the wheels (well, one of them so far) directly to the inner bodywork.

Spent yesterday afternoon at my Brother in Law's hilltop hideaway in the badlands of West Gippsland so, in case he asked how I was getting along (he didn't), I touched up the places where paint had snuck under the masking tape on the Sea Witch.  It's now ready for a coat of clear to protect the (Vallejo) Acrylics from damage.  I shall then detail paint the metal hull fittings etc and get to work on the decks.

Bugatti now has a large hole cut in the RH front mudguard to give clearance for the supercharger which hangs off that side of the engine.  I have also tubbed the rear mudguards and begun building up the new rear bodywork.  I am toying with using an old mouse (computer not rodent) to form a rounded rear end.  I can also now start work on the rear suspension.

The Mirage has had a final coat of flat white and is now ready for masking and some colour.  It's only having one colour added.

RDO today.  Lots done.
Some update pics.

Kraz now has a cab (Vallejo paint for scale).

And the Mirage is now in living, ARDU Fanta can colour.

It's loosely based on this RW scheme.  I wanted more white.

It's a simple but striking scheme isn't it?
I have the decals as well.

"Fanta can"  :o ;D

this opens up a whole potential : Sprite, Coke, Orangina, ...
(but then Red Bull wouldn't be quite whiff)

That Mirage is indeed a thing of beauty...

It doesn't matter how many times I read "Kraz now has a cab", I still hear it in my head as "Kraz now has a crab".... :banghead:
