But the wheel bays are becoming the bomb bays.

Put them in the main float, and I'm being serious. You just need watertight doors and I'm sure something similar was done in the real world ?

On the Curtiss Seamew and it was a problematic feature as those
watertight doors had a habit of not being as advertised.
;D

Ah cheers Jon. I've got, or at least had a kit of the Seamew somewhere - Sword ?

Tis the season to be Grinchy tra la-la la la la-la la la.

Xmas at Australian Post is just hitting it's peak.  This week we move into the "no, it won't get there in time unless you pay through the nose" zone.  this makes customers really happy.
As we get towards the end of the week that segues into the "no, it hasn't arrived yet.  Yes I know they told you they were sending it express but do you have any proof they actually did?" period.
And then on Monday it's "No it's definitely not here and no matter how many times I look on the shelves won't make it appear and swearing at me definitely doesn't help" day.

I love xmas.

So asking you if the ball turret I sent to you has arrived yet, isn't a good time ---

Some people don't understand that there's just too much stuff being shipped, transported and processed during this season. I try to do most, if not all of my online shopping for xmas gifts a couple of months in advance. There's also a higher probability of stuff getting lost during transit at this time of the year.

Good on ya. I'm the same. I look at it as doing my part to take a little pressure off the postal system. I might get a couple things here and there but I try my best to hold off until after Jan. 1.

This close to the big day the majority of what is being posted now is redistribution.  The online shopping being sent back out to the ultimate recipient having been gift wrapped by the loved one.

....... and then after Christmas, all of the returns for credit/different size etc?

Nearly 50 years ago, as a student, I worked 12 hour pre-Christmas night shifts parcel sorting for the GPO (as it was in those days). What I couldn't quite get used to was Pheasants being sent with just a poly bag around them and a label round their necks.   They could gum up the conveyors right and proper if one was inadvertently chuntered by the machinery.

People sent whole birds by mail???? I assume they were dead already or they soon would be! That would be an awfull stink if one ended up in the "dead" letter bin!

Nothing worse at christmas, than when the peasants you ordered arrive poorly wrapped and bruised!

Yup it was at least a couple of days before you could get them working in the fields  ;) And the returns policy....well !  ;)

What little time I have had at the bench has been mostly spent on the Hemi Hydro drag/ski boat and the Kraz truck.  Both are close to being finished.
The 'Hydro needs a few parts on the trailer painted and attached and a trailer board scratching while the Kraz needs mudflaps attaching.  Both need weathering.  Light on the boat trailer and heavier on the truck.

I have also done a small amount on the Sea Witch as I will be seeing the Brother in Law in question tomorrow and if asked can say I have made progress.

Last modelling session of 2018 - done.

I was endeavouring to finish something but it wasn't to be.  The Hemi Hydro is sooooooo close but didn't quite get over the line.
Technically it's finished as the last little bit i'm doing is scratchbuilding a trailerboard and so isn't something that was included in the box.  It'll still need some straps and ratchets scratched up though.
The Kraz also came a step closer today when I put a light grey filter over it.  This dulls down the shine in the paint and looks like road grime.  All it needs to be done now is to weather the tyres, scratch up the curly air hose connector thingos (correct technical terminology) that go between the truck and the trailer and try to build PE scale chain stretchers to hold down the dozer.

Both these builds feature loads on trailers and both pose the same question - should I glue the load to the trailer?

Last round of PSR on the Comet float plane.  I sanded then sprayed primer only to see a bit I missed on top of a wing float.  Grrrrrrrr.

Some work on competition GB stuff including putting away a kit I now won't start for it.  It's s shame but I won't have the time.

I also avoided the temptation to start a last new build of 2018.  It was close.  I even cut some parts off sprues but then I realised I have no space to put the box where I can reach into it for parts so I put it all away again.  I also put away a 1/72 truck i''d glued the wheels and axles together on as that can wait.

And with that another year crawls to a close as the planet earth returns to the point of it's solar orbit it was last at 365 days ago.
I'm finding it hard to be enthused about it which may have something to do with the fact that the dog (11 month old Std Poodle) we are looking after kept us up last night woofing everytime she heard voices.  Which was regularly until 3am as the neighbours boy was sat up drinking with a mate on their verandah.
Can't blame the dog, can't really blame him and couldn't shut the windows as it was too warm.  All i can do is hope i've worn her out today so she sleeps tonight.

Happy New Yeay Whiffers.
