67 Datsun Fairlady by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr
They are just propped in place there.  When properly fitted it'll sit a bit higher.
The rims are Miniltes from the Tamiya Monte Carlo Rally Mini which then gave me a direction for the build.  Datsun entered Fairladys in the '68 & '69 Monte Carlo Rallies but in '67 ran the 1600SSS.
So what If they had entered a Fairlady in '67?

And here, I thought you were going to squeeze a 6'2" Scotsman and 5'4" Japanese lass as driver in there.

The Fairlady SP310/1500 was debuted at the 1961 Tokyo Motor Show months before
the MGB, and was built on a modified Bluebird 310 sedan platform.

Chains holding the Dozer to the KrAz trailer.

The chain stretchers and hooks (the yellow parts) are PE and they really do work.  They tensioned up the chains beautifully.

Everyone has one; it's just a matter of, 'has it already been made, or yet to be made.'

Thanks folks.  I like to hope (with all due modesty) that I will produce more than one work worthy of the description masterpiece before I pop my clogs.

I'm on the final stages of the KrAz.  Last things to do include painting some jerry cans and shackles for the "stuff" crate on the back of the truck, printing up some OVERSIZE signage, making some over width marker flags for the corners of the dozer blade and knocking up orange flashers for the top of the truck and dozer cabs.

I decalled this today.

Funny you should mention the Datsun Fairlady.  My brother had one, back in the early 1980s.  He went overseas and offered it to me but I knocked it back.  He then put it up on blocks in a shed.  It languished there for about 10 years before he sold it for more than he had paid for it back in the early 1980s!   It was bought by a collector who couldn't believe his luck getting an original Fairlady!

I had a VC Commodore wagon languishing in my shed for about five years while I didn't get it roadworthy.  In the end I sold it for what I paid for it plus I separately sold off the nasty big modern wheels it came with.
It had been previously owned by a smoker and even after sitting for five years it still smelt like an ash tray.

Did some more on the Fairlady today.  I had been pondering what to do about the tyre/bodywork interface when i remembered that in one of my parts boxes I had the wheel arch flares from a 1/24 Tamiya Mini (same kit the wheels and tyres came from).  They were in exactly the place I thought they would be and with a little trimming fitted adequately.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Cool!

Y'know, with that ride height, I could see it as something in a Baja race or Post Apocalyptic...
