Most car modellers (well, those building with the aim to win at shows anyway) tend not to pre or post shade instead aiming for a miles deep high gloss shine which IMO is only really accurate if you are modelling a show car.

The F-15 now has at least one coat all three camo colours on it.
I'm not convinced i've chosen the right shades.  They are too different.  I am going to add some of the grey to the two greens to bring them closer.  IMO camo schemes look best if all the colours are mixed from the same base.  Something I didn't do this time.

I also today foiled the scripts on the lil 1/32 Datsun.  I'm planning to put the top coat (red) on to the body this weekend and I will then polish the paint off over the scripts revealing the foil below.

Plus some more painting on the Royce Armoured Car and gluing the turret together.  Roden chose to make the turret in 6 parts.  Unfortunately these do not fit together too well.  I think i've managed to get the top and sides to fit without any huge gaps but in doing so the base won't fit as the bottoms of the four separate panels do not line up.  It'll need sanding flat.

That's a clever idea, I've not heard of that before.

Some may suggest you use a cotton bud dipped in thinners to wipe the paint off the foil.
I don't like the idea of putting thinners that close to fresh paint.

Only had an hour in the shed tonight.  But I adjusted my mixes for the F-15 camo and recoated the two greens.

Much better.
At least one more coat of each colour needed.

Interesting scheme, I can certainly see it being effective.

The camo and the tail of the White Tailed Eagle are now all coated with sufficient paint.  I have moved on to the remaining parts such as the nose, U/C bays and various doors.

Today I glued the body of the Royce Armoured car to the chassis.  And realised I seem to have no photos of it so far.
Here is one.  No it's not a hover car*.  I just don't want to glue on the wheels untilI have weathered it.

I am fighting the temptation to buy the new Meng kit of this.  I suspect it will be better than the Roden kit.  But that's not to say this one doesn't have its charms.  I will finish this before buying another.  Nearly time for paint.  It is going to get my version of the Caunter scheme as used on my BA3 build last year.
I eventually plan to make a diorama with these two plus maybe an LRDG jeep and Chevy.

*But having said that, this kit has a lot of possibility to become a steampunk antigrav fighting vehicle - an armoured vanship if you will.  Hmmmmmmm

Have the Meng version of the Roller in my BNA shopping cart (to be paid for on pay day (tomorrow)). I'll let you know what it looks like when it arrives.

Jealous. :-\

I think i may wait until tax rebate time to get me one.  Can't wait for your review though.

BTW I read somewhere that it is not the done thing to call them a Rolls or a Roller.  The true Rolls Royce aficionado will refer to his Royce... ;D

This is merely a modern affectation, started by those upper-crusties who don't wish to be linguistically associated with the pleb's who don't own Roll Royce motor cariages. ;)

This morning before work I polished the paint off the foiled scripts on the (now red) Datsun.

Thanks Chris.

I cleared the Datsun today.  Looks good if I do say so myself.  Nice and shiny (which isn't always the case with my airbrushing).
