I really like the 222 now  Is she going to have the simple stencil style white crosses ?

Yes.  Like this.

Next step is painting and attaching a resin stowage set.  Then weathering will wait until I have built the Russian B-20 which will accompany it in its diorama - I want to weather both at the same time as if I don't I am likely to forget which colours I used on the one I did first (or Vallejo will change the colour on me - again).

On a different note, don't you hate it when reality ruins a planned whiff?  I have an Airfix Do17 and no ideas for it.  Then I thought "Finnish on skis!".  Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that it would be a RW build.

As it's also my daughter's dog's birthday* I now have a way of remembering when TLaP Day is! ;D

Ah but is TLaPD the same day every year ? I'm not sure it is

Happy birthday to your daughter's dog  I must admit I've never been sure about this 1 dog year = 7 human thing. I think it's just something we use in order that children in particular can deal with pet's short life styles ? I've never heard it used the other way around. A hedgehog's life span at 120 would mean each of it's years was only two thirds of a year or so in human terms ? Certainly slightly more complicated to get your head around

Ah neat

Airfix Do.17 ? Could always use the floats from the Ju.52 you've just got

Yeah, and I strongly doubt animals age/mature similarly to humans either.

If you're going to play that sort of game, then make it a Japanese licence-built version, used in Manchuria, using that as the Allied codename.  ;D

That would actually work.  They are both in the same weight range.  And Dornier did manufacture sea planes...

Most of my bench time today was spent on the 222.  After checking all my 1/35 Wehrmacht armour kits for the appropriate transfers I made some stencils and painted the white crosses.  As soon as they were touch dry I weathered them by rubbing them with a wet cotton bud. I figure they would have been painted hastily and the crew wouldn't have been too worried if they wore off.  They are still a bit bright but the dust and other weathering I plan to do later will mute them down.
I then started on the stowage.  I have a Legend Productions resin set from which I have selected a number of items.  one of them is a rack of five jerry cans which will effectively cover up the cross I painted on the front of the thing.  I spent the rest of the day removing casting blocks, cleaning them up, trying to work out where the ones not shown in the one box top photo went and gluing on jerry can caps and handles.

Oh, and I also primed all the Sea Witch's superstructure.  Something i've been meaning to do for ages.  I think I have been subconsciously not doing it because any progress puts me closer to having to rig the thing and while I am not exactly not looking forward to it I am slightly scared of messing it up as my BiL paid way over the odds for the kit and I want to do a good job for him.

I also finished the Analogue cockpit (added Eduard seatbelts and glued in the bang seat) so I can be closing it up now.

I had an RDO today so as Mrs z was at work, after visiting The Mad Woman (she has had a shoulder replacement and so can only use one wing and so needs help with somethings - like changing light globes) I had all afternoon to myself.

I painted the various items of Sea Witch superstructure and then took the beauty pics of the Oryx.

More painting on the Egg Phantom - it'll be time for transfers soon.

Most pics on the interweb show Spook painted mostly in greys.  I'm going to add a couple of splashes of colour playing homage to The Ghost Who Walks and to the footwear I wore through most of my teens.

I also got the fuselage of the Analogue together.  Constant dry fitting while putting the various sub assemblies together paid dividends here.

I also found $17 on a "load and go" debit card I bought for my Euro trip last year which is about to expire.
So I ordered a model kit.

It was a semi serious suggestion

Liking the 222

...and today I realised that despite writing NOSE WEIGHT in big letters in the instructions I forgot to add any.
After removing the bang seat (it needed shaving anyway to get the canopy to fit and was only glued in with PVA "just in case") I poured liquid gravity in through the gap in front of the control panel.  I followed this with some PVA I sucked up a piece of aluminium tube and then blew into the same cavity (I only got a little in my mouth - tastes nasty but took me back to primary school).
I needed a fair bit of ballast because those big delta wings put a lot of weight at the tail.

Egg Phantom is ready for clear.

PSR has begun on Spokan2.  This is slightly unusual as I have begun it before closing up the fuselage halves.

Because there aint no such thing as too many started builds i've been fiddling with a combination of F104 and Harrier parts  (Star Farrier?).

Rambo 3 is on the idiot's lantern.  Ah the good old days when The Taliban were the good guys and the Red Army used surplus US army half tracks...
