Thanks folks.  I'm weathering the Mi-4 a little at a time.  Hopefully this will allow me to identify when to stop and not go too far.

I've nearly finished painting the troops who will sit in the back of the 1/48 Gaz truck.  Figures are not one of my strong points so i've been taking my time trying to develop some technique.
I'll need a base to sit it on so i've started knocking one up.  That's a piece of slate left over from stately zen manor's patio, filler and rocks from the garden.

Painting on the figures is finished.  I find it tricky getting finishes on figures "right".  My go to is to spray everything with satin clear but that doesn't look right on material items like webbing and I brush on flat clear where required.
I've attached some crates to the bed of the truck for the troops to sit on (well, three of them anyway, the fourth gets to sit on the floor).  I was going to put weapons into the mens hands but it seems I didn't paint enough guns for them so have had to quickly do an extra one.

1/72 Mercedes is finished as is the Mi-4.  The landscapers are in at Dadswell Bridge replacing some bald patches amongst the turf so pics will have to wait a while until they finish work.

I use over-all flat/matte for figures.

I use the satin clear to seal before weathering and I don't have an aerosol flat clear acrylic (maybe I should try to find one I like? - but it took me ages to find a satin clear I got on with).
I'm happy with this technique for the moment as skin and wet/muddy/greasy uniforms are not necessarily matt.
I have actually used gloss sparingly on one figure in this build because I want him to stand out from the rest.
Of course I have the added complication of these being 1/48 figures and so slightly smaller than usual.

A couple of  1/48 tanks, a 1/48 jeep & a 1/72 Spitfire/Mustang with 1/35 clown crews?

I'm sure someone will now post a link, but i've never seen 1/35 clown figures.

They've politicised ANZAC Day plenty.  I'm sure Scotty from marketing would commercialise it if he thought he could get away with it.

Pretty sure there aren't any 1/35 clown figures, either, but not that hard to bodge-up.

Ace Models Mercedes Benz W-150 Tourenwagen.  1/72 scale.  Built OOB (apart from a RHD conversion).  Very detailed and intricate but it went together very well.

Tricky rear suspension on that car, does it have swing axles with a De Dion tube as well?

Cracking model nonetheless.

Not 100% sure on the correct names, but I think so.  It's all there in accurately sized detail. I managed to keep three wheels attached but one of the front ones did come adrift when clumsy handling broke the suspension arms.  You can't see in the pic but it's now held on by an accurate 1/72 scale rendition of a big blob of epoxy.

I have two more Ace Models kits.  A Stalwart and a '42 Ford.
