The DC3 floatplane did that, as does the Cessna 208 too, and I think the Turbo-Otter amphibs do it as well

Maybe some did, but all the pics i've found show legs mounted right at the nose of the floats pivoting backwards into bays with doors...

...which is what I am now doing with this.  The previous plan (detailed above) resulted in the floats sitting at too much of an angle.
After far too long playing Grand Turismo on the PS4 (night racing a VW Kombi around Bathurst - very entertaining) cutting and construction of the boxes for the bay began.  But the quality of the raw materials is dubious as the Airfix Ju-52 floats are rather thin and flimsy in places.

I have also painted the chassis, wheels and engine of the WOT8.  It's a lovely, detailed piece of kit.

Ah right, now I think properly about it, the prototype had the 'forward folding' arrangement to start with, and it didn't work too well, so they reversed it.

The 'production' ones all folded backwards as in your pic, but I'm not sure that 'production' is the right word as they were all field conversions actually, and the floats, wheels, struts etc were shipped out across to the Pacific to be mated with their airframes on site.

The only DC-3s with nose wheels....

Today I glued one float together., strapped it up with cable ties..

...and then unglued the front seas when I realised I needed to add weight.   :banghead:

That's why my cars are black, silver and greeny-blue. I don't think I've EVER had a grey car!

I note that black & silver get a mention in the monotone monotony list, though.

As does white, the colour of all the cars at my house other than my brother-in-law's. My excuse is that white is a "stand-out" colour on the roads ... Unless it's snowing ... But it doesn't snow here very often. ;)

When I went to buy my truck I told the sales guy I wanted a color. Grey and silver were not a color. Blue, green, red, yellow and orange were colors. I ended up with Chicago Cubs blue.

One of the other vfactors might be that it is one of the very few tones car manufacturers do not charge extra these days.

You guys want a stand out colour for any weather situation..bright Carnegie Yellow.
Don't matter if it's snow..heavy rain..hail ..fog you can see it and here's another benefit to our mates in OZ land ..heat reduction..bigtime....you can touch it even in plus 28C heat and hotter and it won't burn you..this I know for sure as being a bloke and yapping with mates around another mates pink and yellow RX3 ..punk burns..the yellow did not ..both colours on the roof so equal heat .

As for the nose wheels on the floats..im sure it's just who makes them Fred..ive seen both types on the same model planes..Cessna 180s in this case and also cost .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

Not much modelling.
I'm still trying to shake off the last of this Lurgi and even with the heater on it is dank in my shed which causes coughing up flegum and a build up of thick snot.
So just brief visits in between playing video games.
I've returned to Grand Theft Auto 5 on Mrs z's PS4.  I last played it 5 years ago so there it's a case of trying to remember which control does what.  I have completely forgotten the plot so far.  Why are those bikies shooting at me?  I seem to remember killing a lot of their mates.

SU76c is complete and now awaits continuation of weathering.
But more importantly I have had a rummage and selected a pair of engines to choose between for the Re-Engined GB build.  I'll probably go with the injected Hemi because, well, it's a Hemi and the blown Small Block Chevy is really badly built and will need dismantling.
1/25 426ci Hemi scaleoramaed into 1/35 = 1169ci.  That'll do.

As detailed elsewhere, Lurgi has paused play.

An e-mail from a city hobby store today revealed to me the existence of a styrene 1/72 Martin Mauler.  This creates something of a quandary as i'd love one to add to the collection.  It would sit nicely in the stash next to the two Skyraiders and the Skyshark that are already there.
The issue, other than the price is that it is by A&A and i'm now wary of their stuff after building their La 200b.  Maybe i'll wait and see how one of the other A&A kits in the stash build.  I have a Mirage IV (really hope that goes together well as it's such a gorgeous aircraft) and an Il 102 flying tank.

Nah. You'll just regret not buying it once it's gone. And you'll probably find that their Mauler exceeds expectations, if only because your current expectations are so low.. ;)  Problem solved..
