Got some decals onto the JASDF Lightning today.  I still have to apply the stencils.

Oh, THAT sort of Mosquito. Right.

Truth be told I forget sometimes about the airplane version because normally it's a "Mossie" so I don't always make the connection.  The insects are a huge PROBLEM around SW Oklahoma all spring and summer long however so are often on my mind. I HATE them. Them and house flies.    Local gov't often steps in and sends trucks around spewing out plumes of stuff into the neighborhoods trying to keep the population down.

Anyway... why anyone would name such a lovely aircraft after such an atrocious, vile blood sucking disease spreading insect is beyond me!     :::begins preparations to make General Dynamics House Fly:::::

Makes perfect sense.  Skeeters 'n Hornets....  and what's a Vampire other than a high falutin' mosquito, right?!

After 3 1/2 hours of applying stencils this morning it now looks like this.

Thousands of irritating little decals and I only managed to loose two.  I count that as a success.
If you look closely enough then you'll see that they are in english and german rather than japanese but they do add something.
And there were not as many as there were on the JASDF Phantom.
The black lines on the top of the wings are walkway markings but what are the ones on the belly for?

That Lightning looks great, love the scheme you used on it. Been growing more fond of white based paint schemes ever since i built the PoAF Gnat.

The Lightning is marvellous  Those colours almost disguise the fact it's a Lightning
