According to Wiki, GM squeezed a 140hp 2.8L V6 in there.  And, IIRC, that was the model my mother bought as her "midlife crisis" car. ;D

Ah great, thanks. If I wasn't 'relaxing' I should have thought to look there.  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I had a plan sometime ago to use a V6 Fiero engine and rear end to make a trike ----

The MPC kit has options to build either the L4 or the V6.

Some painting today - Javelina grey and El Beau Cowlings - but what took up all my time (as it always does) was sorting out some wheels for the Mercster.  It seems to be an unwritten rule of model car kit design that everytime a new mould is created it will have a wheel attachment method different in size to every other model car made by that manufacturer and all the others.
This means that when you want to swap wheels between kits you have to spend ages modifying fittings from innies to outies or enlarging/reducing holes or lengthening/widening pins.
In this case, after working out which inners went with which outers went with which tyres I had to sleeve holes in the wheel hubs.

Ooooooh, I don't think I've ever seen that kit, I may start looking for one.

This is the one I have.

There are other kits but I am not sure if they have the engine options.

Today.

Painted another coat of topside grey and demasked the Javelina.  No paint under the window masks.  Phew.
Glued the wheels on.

Attached the engine to the Kitty Zero and primed the pilot.

Put another coat of grey and drab on El Beau's cowlings.  I need to paint a thin black line between the grey & drab and the white.  I'm girding my loins...
No pics of El Beau.

And then I got distracted while thinking about the one week GB and ended up tidying and dusting these shelves.  I found lots of things I had forgotten about.  I made room up there for the Osprey and Victor because they came from a smoker and both stink.

Here ya go Fred, more Edsel inspiration, Edselvira. ;D

zenrat

Excellent.  Thanks Jon.

Spent today packing models for expo.
Cars are easy but aircraft take some thought and required carving recesses in pieces of foam rubber.
Now I have to create "references".

And relax.
9 sets of references created.  The ones I am proudest of are those for the Bristol Blairgowrie were I included a page and bit long version of the back story I created [urk=http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,42813.msg751797.html#msg751797] here.[/url]  This is complete with references to Kitterick Spankman-Dean and Lord Narses.
I suspect I was wasting my time but who knows.

Now, tomorrow nights challenge is to get them all entered into the classes I think they should be entered it.
I'm not expecting to win anything - that's not why I enter - but I do hope to inspire some modellers to peek over the side to see what might be outside the box.

Back from entering my builds into Model Expo.
I had a slight disagreement with a couple of scrutineers.
They were of the opinion that unless an aircraft was a "real" aircraft then it wasn't really an aircraft and so should be entered into a sci fi class rather than an aircraft class.
I didn't argue much as that would be lowering myself to their level.

Yea well  :banghead: Shame to say that there are still Luddites around in most walks of life.

Oh man..... I could totally see a "right hand/left hand" situation develop.

So you tote all your wares over to the sci fi area and get it set up then some other officials stroll up and tell you you can't put airplanes wit' spaceships, that you need to move it to the aircraft section.

That happened to me at last year's SAPMA Expo.

There is no point arguing for too long with someone who is enjoying their little bit of power.
Anyway, it's a game and that was just round one.  He was so focussed on the big blue sky flying boat that he didn't pick up on the cut down Lancaster or the trimotor Beaufighter.
;D

Comic Con today with the Boy.  Wow, that was an eye opener,  So many cos players who went to so much effort.  Deadpool, Gamora and characters from Attack on Titan seemed to be very popular choices.  The Boy went as Natsu from Fairy Tail.
Also so much stuff for sale.  I got a Funko Pop Vinyl 1966 Batmobile for my collection and some copies of locally produced comics signed by the writers and artists.
The comic scene here appears to be, apart from some smaller scale production, almost all Marvel or DC.  No sign of anything along the lines of 2000AD or Tank Girl.  I suppose the market isn't there.

Providing you have the time it can be a fun game as well  It's amazing how many of these minor officials have no idea of how to respond to a logical argument  ;)

He probably thought the Beau was an Italian type.
