And here's my Evo body.
Mitsubishi Evo VII Zero WIP 30-09-18 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr
I'm toying with adding a white ring round the hinomaru and a black nose.

Looks good.  That Boxcar must be parked in a field.  ;D ;D

Going for that Betty bomber green slapped over bare metal in the field
look I see.

When I lived in Hawai'i there was an older Subaru wagon that was often parked down
at the yacht harbor painted up in a brown and green over light grey scheme.
Who ever it was went to the extent of painting the rocker panels light grey simulating
the underside. It also had hinomaru. I have a photo somewhere.
Very appropriate for a Subie as Nakajima Ki 48 bombers carried the scheme in China.
Nakajima -> Fuji Heavy Industries -> Subaru.

I'm going for the "overused & cliched not necessarily true to life but de-rigeur if building a ww2 Japanese aircraft for judging" look.
I have underside grey, I may do the rockers.

I'd wondered if, in addition to Mitsubishi and Kawasaki, any other wartime Japanese aircraft manufacturers had connections to current car or motorcycle manufacturers.

I don't like to rush things.
When I am building a model I write the date inside with a texter.  This one has 2013 written inside.  As this was done after glueing the hull halves, PSR and painting I think I actually started it sometime in 2012.

I've just put the decals on the sides and rear of the hull (the stars on the top have been on for a few years)

It's one of these.

If I lose interest again I should get it done sometime in 2024...

Those old Revell boxes really take me back and that's not one I remember. Certainly sums up a period in time that we are unlikely to see again in a very long time.

Is that the one that came on a trailer?

Damn dude! I bet that thing could come clear out the water with that engine.  :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D     Well that is unless you stick something else off in there.

Yes Kit.  It has a single axle trailer.  I just glued the rollers onto it today.
Brad C, i'm keeping the kit engine (an early Hemi - a mere 392 ci) but fitting a huge shiny blower on top of it.

I cleared the Mitsu Evo today so I can put on my top secret sneaky decals (hope they work).  I also commenced lowering operations on all four corners of the chassis.  The way these kits are designed there is a very simple way to drop them by the (not insubstantial) thickness of the inner wheel arches.  Which is nice.

I also closed up the fuselage of the Mirage.

Ah, I thought it looked familiar.

I used to have that kit, but it was the sole victim when I moved house down here in the 1980s and it got crushed to pulp when getting the models out of box trailer.  :banghead:

Shame.
But they were repopped recently as the Hot Rod Hydro (avoiding licensing fee).

I feel there is a market for more 1/24 & 1/25 boats and trailers.

Hell yes, some of the current drag boats would be awesome.

They look wild and have the most amazing colour schemes, but then they're a bit of a fringe market I guess.

You could say that about a lot of things that people model Kit. I'm always surprised by at least one subject matter at every S.M.W. I'll now be looking out for these this year  ;)

Boat hulls (especially racing hydroplanes) could be scratchbuilt from sheet but what would be usefull would be outboard motors and the boat trailers.

Speaking of floaty things, I masked up and painted another section of the Sea Witch hull today.

I also scratchbuilt a gearbox for a 1/24 Bugatti Royale.
