Our last night of camping was in rural Victoria far enough from any population centre large enough to put out significant light pollution.  This meant the night sky was fantastic with the Milky Way looking awesome.  Unfortunately I don't have the equipment to photograph it so here are a couple of the sunset.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

What an amazing pic, dead straight and level all the way to the horizon! I don't think I've ever seen anywhere like that ever.  :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

That's out near Griffith in Riverina NSW.
I just checked and assuming my phone was at a height of 1.7m (which is about right given I was sitting in a van) then the horizon is only 4.7 km (2.9 miles) away.  Closer than I would have guessed.
It's not an unusual sight.  When you put roads down on a flat blank canvas why bother with corners?  I was trying to capture the heat haze on the road (there even at this time of year) but it didn't show up.

Come down and visit, we'll take you on a road trip to experience these sort of views.

Closer than  I would have guessed too.

I'd quite like to make such a trip, but I'd also like to come back home again, and having read what you lot write about the fauna down that way I'm somewhat dubious about surviving!  :o :o :o

As you say, why bother with corners? I wish they'd have thought of that when they built the A48, the main road that leads to Gloucester from my place. It's 20 miles and the longest straight is about 600 yards!

Nice shots of the waterhole

I've never driven it but I believe the road across the Nullabor Plain used to be straight as a die for thousands of km, then they put kinks in the road to stop drivers getting mesmerised by the unchanging scenery & going to sleep at the wheel.

Today I drove to a place called World's End for work. ;D

A lot of roads in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are like that. You can drive the secondary roads for hours without seeing another vehicle too  :o
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

I knew a girl who lived right across the road from it too, she was an astronomer. (Just thought you needed to know that...........  ;D)

Suitable part of London for a stargazer Kit

Back in the day it was an interesting part of town. The "up market" part of Chelsea lived quite amicably next to the what was still the "working class" part, Battersea. Eventually they started to try and market Battersea as South Chelsea  :banghead:

When they were building the London to Brighton railway line there was a temporary navvies encampment between Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill.  It wasn't the most salubrious of townships and this area is still known as Worlds End.

Back to the bench today.  I don't have to be back at work until next tuesday so I am hoping I can get some builds finished.
Focussing on the Datsun Fairlady as it has to be finished before the Ballarat NNL onMay 19th.  I prepped some parts and painted them.  I have some alclad to do as the kit comes with no chrome plating.
Primer on the Flying Dinghy and undercoat on the Rotodyne.
Decals are on the F15 which involved doing some research into RAAF serial numbers.  I also had to polish up the windscreen after slipping with the sanding stick when cleaning it up.

More bits and pieces done.
Fairlady interior paint and chrome parts prep.
F-15 decals again (when will I remember not to put Micro Sol onto clear decal paper) and pilot painting.
Royce armoured car parts primed.
Ford Del Rio sedan delivery body sanded and primed.
Decals on the Cessna floats.

I also finally got round to the thing which has been delaying me getting on with the Sea Witch - drilling holes for belaying pins in many locations in the hull and the rails.
