The ruling was made to assuage a complainant.  They won't tell me who it was.

Ah, glad to see democracy rules  :-\
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

What were they complaining about, too many aircraft models?

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Blatant creativity horrifies some people......

'Twas probably an aircraft (maybe armour) JMN who was horrified that ignorant car modellers were choosing heretical imaginary planes(/tanks) over their obviously superior, extensively researched builds.

Some of these guys work on one model for a couple years and add lots of money's worth of aftermarket parts. I just can't do that.

You'd think model contests/shows would be more about the MODELS. If they're so interested in historical accuracy, they could go judge a stack of books.

That poor Landcruiser! What are you doing to it! :o :o :o (Where's the "horrified" emoji when you need it?)

Pimping it...

So, regarding the show it seems I didn't get the full message and the no what if's ban didn't apply to alternate paint schemes, egg planes or Wyverns with firestreaks (although I insisted it stay in Sci Fi just to make a point).  The ban applied to things like, and I quote, "sea planes with extra engines and rowing boats hanging from the wings".  That seems pretty specific.
;D
The aircraft class was won by a 1/32 MiG 17 which had a fantastic NMF paint job.  Every panel seemed to have been masked and painted a slightly different shade.  And I neglected to take a photo of it.
I do have some photos and will post them soon.

I glued the floats onto the Sesna (sic) today.

I seem to recall a certain Victorian modeller associated with a certain Nullabor pirate Captain entering a certain Kawanishi H6K5 in a particularly attractive 2-tone, sorry, 3-tone blue paint scheme which rather fit that description. ;)

Their loss! ;D

Maybe they were so stunned and revolted they couldn't see past the Shiny! and oddball.
You must have sent them into a state where they couldn't see the work and skill involved.

Has no-one ever told them it's only a hobby - our own individual one - and we can make what we want?

Never mind, Fred - as others have said, it's their loss and we still love you...

There are actually 7 shades of blue on the upper surfaces.

The Kawanishi won the aircraft class at Ballarat last year which, I think, is what caused the complaint.  I have talked it over with the powers that be and In his opinion the dinghies, the flying bridge and the Oerlikon meant that it was less of an aircraft and more of a something else.  So now I know where the line is I can push it...

Meanwhile, back in the present I got an hour and a half in before work this morning and put some paint on the fiddly bits of the Royce and the Cessna.  I also put another coat of varnish on the Sea Witches plinth.
Having finished the Eagle and the Eggle the temptation is there to start something else.  However, I am resisting as I need to get the Rotodyne and the Flying Dinghy done for the Alt.Flight GB.  I also have the Cessna and Royce to complete, the Yak 23 part painted, a show rod to paint candy apple red (second attempt - I screwed it up and then ran out of paint.  Got some more Sunday), 57 Ford sedan delivery on the go and the ziking Ragnar needing the last stages of PSR and the windows polishing where I scratch them sanding.
Oh, and the Sea Witch.

And apart from that you've got nothing to do, right?  ;D ;)
