I have a resin 42 8Super Cobra Jet donk in my engines box.  I wonder if I could make that fit into the little Sunbeam...

So, having finished the 1WGB it's back to work on everything else.
I primed the Land Cruiser body.  I think Tamiya red mica styrene might be worse for bleed through than Monogram bright red styrene.  This is my usual light grey primer.

The Yak 23 is nearly done.  Fiddley bit are left to do so I painted the wheels, legs, doors etc.

More on the 'dyne and after a long break more on ziking Ragnar.

If you're painting the 'Cruiser yellow that might be a good base (there's been discussion on this very site re: pink as a primer/undercoat for yellow). ;)

Good thinking.  Except for the fact that the bonnet is moulded in clear and so the yellow (hard enough to get to match at the best of times) would almost definitely end up a different shade.
Also I have filled the holes where the spare wheel rack mounts (visible in the pic just behind the bottom of the rear side window)  and they will also show up.
Nope, this one will be a dark colour.  Maybe a dark red.

Indeed it is a very good primer for yellow and a few other difficult colours as well. No idea why, but it is

I'm back at work tomorrow so I did as much as I could today.

Windscreen is back in the Tiger.  Still needs some parts reattached and a few paint touch ups.

Bodywork finished on the 57 Ford.  In primer and awaiting a decision on a colour scheme.

A new start.  Revell (ex Matchbox) PB4Y-2 Privateer.  I'm building it as an RY-3 Privateer Express.  Fit of the civilian parts (solid nose & tail and fuselage panels) is poor.  There is much PSR in this ones future.  Nice long wings though.

And another new one.  Tamiya Sd.Kfz 222.  Going to be RW in early war (pre July '40) grey/brown camo.  I'm pondering a diorama of German & Russian armoured cars meeting up in Poland in '39.

Love the engine work on the Tiger Fred, and that rear seat trim DEFINITELY wasn't installed at Cowley!  ;D

As for the Privateer, oh YEAH!

You either have enormous hands or the Privateer is not as big as I thought it was ?

Often overlooked event in WW2 history & a very good idea!

Not much of a car model man but those two look very good!

The Yak is coming along nicely & the Privateer doesn't look much smaller than a Sunderland (& most of the "smallness" comes from the lack of depth relative to the Sunderland).

TBH I am intrigued by the early war camo scheme.  I have found some profiles but no completed models built with it.  It seems to be little known.  Possibly because in B&W photos dunkelgrau and dunkelbraun look the same.  It was replaced with all over dunkelgrau in July 1940 which means that there would have been grey/brown camo panzers rolling through the Ardennes in May of that year.
It was while I was looking for photos of the scheme that I found this pic.

The tanker smoking appears to be sitting on a BA-20 armoured car.  One of these.

I wonder what language they were speaking?

Yea, I suppose that's it.

French?

Not a stupid suggestion, actually. French was a popular 2nd language in late Tsarist Russia & that carried on into early Communist Russia, & French was also quite popular if Germany, too, prior to WW2.

Civilian Privateer for you Fred, which I saw down in Yuma a few years ago.

If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Thanks KN.
I've been reading up on the cargo Libs and Privateers.  Apparently they were not too popular being prone to fuel leaks and electrical failure on takeoff and were very sensitive to having the cargo loaded too far from the CoG.  There is a report of one coming close to hitting the Taj Mahal on takeoff.
They were rushed into production when an aircraft was needed that could fly higher and further than the Dak.
