Ah, OK.
I did some random black preshading and then airbrushed the top with Olive and the underside with Grey, both of which I had lightened with pale yellow to look faded.  I tried to do this in light coats so it looked patchy.  It worked on the bottom but on the top I put it on too heavily so when dry I went over with more olive which had extra pale yellow, concentrating on the upper surfaces and trying to keep it patchy.
To make the painted over markings I drew them with a pencil using a circle stencil and a ruler and then brush painted them using the olive or the grey without any lightening pale yellow.
The Idea here was they were painted over using the same colour paint but obviously it hadn't faded yet.  Being brush painted they were not as smooth as the rest of the (airbrushed) paint but in to my mind the brush marks were a bit too heavy so I sanded them down with my very worn fine grit sanding sponge.  Then gloss clear, then transfers, then more gloss clear to seal in the transfers and then satin clear.

Play by play!! Right on. From what I can see, it's turned out great. I've always liked manipulating the same shades of colors to make them look different to get effects like this. I think a a camo job like that would be awesome. imagine a whole plane with two tone camo of those.

Inspiration has finally struck for the paintjob on the '57 Ford.  One of the kit options is a cop car - a K9 unit.  I'm going to build it as a Gotham PD K9 panel van.  It'll be the third in my series of Gotham City PD vehicles which in my reality are Brunswick Green and White with Orange trim.

So thisarvo I finally finished wiring the engine and will make a start on the chassis.  The body is primed and undercoated and ready for a coat of white gloss.  Hopefully this weekend it will be warm enough to paint.
The kit contains parts for a centrifugal supercharger which is not shown in the instructions (they are a leftover from the saloon version of the kit).  I think a K9 car obviously needs a bit of pep to get Scratchy and Sniffy the police dogs to crime scenes as fast as possible and so I have found a copy of the saloon instructions showing these parts.

Spitfire is almost done.  I should finish it this weekend.  I've built it OOB as an early Mk1 with the two bladed prop and the flat canopy.  Transfers are from the Tamiya Mk1a and paint job is as Tamiya show...
...but with a subtle twist that I hope isn't immediately obvious.
Once the Spit is done I will then get onto the fiddley bits of the Me 109.

Old No. 1 is now up on her legs and the crew (PJ Productions) are sitting there patiently waiting for something to be put over their heads.
I am hoping I will also finish this off this weekend.  Despite pouring a shed load of liquid gravity and PVA into the nose it still only just sits on all three so I may add a touch more weight.

Crew look neat

Gotham was one of my favourite t.v. series. Shame it's finished.

The PJ Productions resin figures are very good.  Worth the cost of postage from Europe.
I got a couple of sets of Cargo Pilots (coveralls - seen here) and a couple of Passenger Pilots (Uniforms).  Both sets have two pilots and a crew member and all figures have separate arms.

The Gotham PD logo I use I scanned from the AMT Gotham Police Car transfers (in the Joker's Goon Car kit).  I'm not sure which version of Batman they are based on.  i would guess the first relaunch with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.

PJ is always at Telford, really nice bloke  And as you say his stuff is very good as well.

Never a fan of the Batman films really, but the Gotham t.v. series was "slightly" more anarchic

I love the '66 TV series and associated movie.  Also the Dark Knight graphic novel.  Gotham is pretty good also.

Painting of model car bodies has been delayed.  While the weather is suitable, I swept the shed this morning and so the air in there is full of dust which'll need time to settle.  I don't have a spray booth.

I love the '66 TV series and associated movie.

I enjoyed some of the humour, intended or otherwise, but at 14/15 I probably thought I was to old for a "kids" program, whilst not being old enough to realise that it was actually intended as a gentle dig at the genre.

They are great.  And they got even better (and more ridiculous) when Yvonne Craig joined as Batgirl.  All those times when Barbra Gordon just happened to be in her fathers office while he was discussing a case with Batman.  Followed by "oh Daddy we can't have lunch i've just remembered I have to urgently rearrange the children's literature shelves in Gotham City Library".

While painting car bodies was off the cards I did airbrush the 222 today.  I had a slight confusion over which grey I used to paint the wheels.  I really should make notes.  I hope I used the same one.  If I have Panzer Dark Grey then surely that was what I would have used?

Canopy is on the Privateer and UC doors are painted.  One main wheel was loose (glued with PVA - didn't like being wiggled before it was dry) and had to be reglued.  And I started filling the window holes with PVA.

Spitfire just awaits UC doors and prop.

And at the end of Sunday I have failed to finish either the Spit or the Privateer.
However, only just.  They both only need aerial wires stringing and a touch of weathering.  These were prevented by paint and PVA window drying.

Obviously, being this close to finishing TWO builds I needed to start another.
So I did.
I decided to build one of the Soviet aircraft kits I seem to collect faster than I build.  I pulled out a Modelsvit MiG 21 Analogue A-144-1.
So far I have carved some lumps off of the fuselage (I suspect they are lumps only present on the A-144-2 - i'll find out when I get to building it as I have both) and glued together the nose UC bay, shock cone and wings.  It's a typical Eastern Bloc kit with chunky sprue attachment points and components broken down into too many parts.  Minor flash is present on most parts.
There's no PE but detail is good.  Separate cockpit side consoles and a long detailed exhaust with burner thingo in it for example.
RW scheme on this is NMF and white with blue lines which to my eye looks quite good so i'm going to build it RW.

I may have to go back and watch these  ;D

A cracking looking aeroplane, one would make a great pairing with a BAC221 model.

I have one of the latter, but not the Analog so I'll be interested in seeing how you get on with this.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Spit and Privateer finished and photographed.
I'll post the Privateer pics tomorrow.  I need to finish writing some words.

When I started the MiG 21 I also pulled out a Hasegawa Phantom II eggplane as light relief.  I want to do it in RAAF colours as a companion to the Eggle.  The fit is terrible.

Some aircraft build related thoughts that have been bouncing round inside my skull.

Civilian cargo Mitchell - with gull wings to get the cargo doors closer to the ground.
Twin boom Hampden.
Victor with a chunk cut out of the fuselage behind the wing.  I've been looking at three views and to my eye the proportions are wrong and it needs to be shorter.  Longer wings as well maybe.
Fokker Eindecker autogyro.
An ornithopter.  Not sure on the fuselage but I have a pair of Lysander wings which are just the right shape.  I'd like to build working flapping mechanisms.
Sky Pirates airship combining the USS Macon gasbag and a pirate ship hull.  I have most of the parts I need apart from engines.
RAF '46 B-36.  No jets and manned turrets - nose, two dorsal, tail and belly.  I have all the parts but need space so I have to finish the Sea Witch first.
Eggplane combat diorama - MiG 15 shooting down a Sabre.
