What a big wing you've got comrade!

Analogue is looking good sir

I to have a reference library. To my mind there is something almost sacred about the printed word and I cannot even bring myself to throw books away. Any that I do deem surplus (mainly to clear space for others) are donated to one of the numerous charity shops that reside in the Crystal Palace Triangle.

We have what I consider to be a small collection of books consisting of mine and Mrs z's combined.  Others consider it large but those who comment in that direction tend to be of the ignorant classes.  I have been asked "wow, have you read all these?".  The answer is of course "no" because Mrs z has dubious tastes in some areas of fiction (not all, just some - I have no interest in reading the adventures of a tribe of badgers and find a lot of fantasy fiction unimaginative and repetitively plotted) and there are of course some I have yet to get to.
My "reference library" consists of large format books like Gunstons Encyclopedia of Combat Aircraft (a birthday present from mum & dad in about '84), War Machines: Sea, Encyclopedia of Classic Cars and smaller books like The Day they Almost Bombed Moscow.  Some i've had since I was a youth and some i've bought recently.
I never throw books out either.  I might give them away if I find I have duplicates or if forced to by Mrs z donate them to an Op Shop.  That is rare though as IMO you can never have too many books.

Finished scratchbuilding (well, mostly) what Hasegawa should have provided inside their early F104 kit and closed the fuselage halves.  I have just realised, as I type this, that I didn't check if I was going to need nose weight.

Bollocks!

Oh well, I can pour heavy glue in through the cockpit if I need it and I may jet be sawing the nose off to replace it with something else I will claim to be a new radar nose.

I also started painting the stowage for the 222.

"Too Many Books?"

"I think what you mean is: 'Not Enough Bookshelves!'"

;D

I have had a problem with cutting up magazines for just the articles I want, but have gotten more ruthless of late... plus the ones I have - so far - mutilated have been freebies anyway...

zenrat

I had four large storage boxes in my shed containing about 15 years worth (1986 to 2001) of 2000AD and other sci-fi comics.  I have all the important stories as graphic novels or had picked out the relevant issues but couldn't bring myself to throw them away even though I knew I was never going to read them again.  I tried selling them at rock bottom prices on Evil-Bay and also offered them to comic shops but no takers.
Luckilly a nephew expressed interest and I off loaded them onto him with strict instructions not to bring them back.   ;D

I still however have boxes of car and motorcycle magazines and Fortean Times.

I still have all my old SAM's and Miniature Wargames magazines. I kept the MW ones even though I also have the compact discs  :banghead:

This sounds like baseball cards.  ;D    They seem like they should be worth something... it's difficult to just trash them, but with the baseball cards they made so many that decades' worth of them have zero value. People will have half a garage filled up with them to learn the entire lot is worth about $30.  ;D :o

My entire HOUSE is stuffed with magazines of every sort! All tech things, cars, ships, aircraft, railways etc, and there's hardly room to move because of them. And they go back to the 60s and 70s as well, so there's a LOT!  :o

Then you have a massive clear out and get rid of the lot, figuring the library will have their back issues anyway, or the publisher...

and the library trashes all their back catalogue (yes - not even selling them off!)

and the publisher ceases the title and deletes completely the forum... looking at YOU, Military Modelling!

What's the R-value of a wall of magazines?  ;D

Didn't know that. I've got a lot of them, somewhere, as well.

R value is a measure of heat conductivity.  ie. how good your mags are as insulation.

This is a 4D Model F-16 Egg Plane (a straight copy of the Hasegawa kit).  But to me the picture is saying "G'day, my name is Bruce and i'm a shark..."
