One side did still work when it was retired to the shed.  I wouldn't want to eat anything toasted in it now.

Only a short amount of shed time today.
Following inspection the Analogue and Star Farrier were graduated from PSR academy.
Analogue then got white topcoat on the spine, vertical tail and ventral fin.
Star Farrier got another coat of primer.
Mitch got sanded, polished and then more putty where needed.

F16 Egg got its cockpit painted.

Random thought.

I've been watching a series on Neftlix entitled The West.  The episode I just watched covered events leading up to and following Sitting Bull's victory at Little Big Horn.  Mention of Sheriden got me thinking there were a lot more cavalry generals than there were tanks named after them and that I need to whiff up a "Custer".

While hiding from the rain I put transfers on the F-16 Egg.

Almost forgot.  Stage 1 is complete on the SdKfz 222.
This is going to be part of a diorama with a Soviet BA 20 Armoured car and some figures.  I've been inspired by photos showing Red Army and Wehrmacht troops fraternising in Poland in 1939.  Scheme is correct for early WW2 but didn't last long being quickly replaced by all over Dark Grey. Its rarely seen in scale because in B&W photos the brown and grey look the same so the vehicles appear to be painted in the later scheme.  It's not weathered because I want to weather both vehicle together so they look like they have been driving on the same dusty summer roads.

It's the Tamiya 1/35 kit with a Legend Productions resin stowage set (well, some of it anyway - there were a lot of bits in the box and no instructions as to where they go).
Paint is Vallejo acrylic.  Base is temporary.

I have to be honest and say I'm not a particular fan  of these "egg planes", but that F-16 really suits it for some reason ? Something about it appeals to me

You really have done a job and a half with the 222
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

zenrat

Thanks Chris.

Some of the Egg planes are a bit meh but others work well.   Of the Hasegawa designs most of the single piston engined aircraft look a bit odd.  Jets look good though.  I have a MiG 15 and F-86 I want to  build as a dogfight display.

I like that 222. You did a nice job on that. The Egg-16 looks great.

The Tamiya 222 was the first 'big' and first armour kit I built when I started into model making aged 11. Bought it from the Beatties store in Romford, now long gone.
I had the 1/32 Matchbox Lysander and a Tamiya BMW motorbike set, and had dreams of making a huge diorama with German forces catching a Resistance pickup on the ground. No space or time for that in the end.

zenrat

Thanks Nick.
I also built a Tamiya 222 as a youth.  Since then they added PE turret screens and a metal gun barrel and a figure.

In other news today I have chosen a new name for the aircraft formally known as StarFarrier.  It will be known as the Currawong.  It is finally ready for some paint.  Which will be a PDRV low level camo scheme.
Mitch is also ready for paint and the Analogue needs masking for the NMF finish - spine, part of the vertical tail and the ventral fin remain white.  There is a transfer for a blue line which edges the white on the tail - I have photocopied this so I can use it to make a mask.

Yeah, Currawong sounds very 'Australian' somehow. Looking forward to the finished article.
