I just did an 8 hour call-back shift with 2 hours OT on my day off - better than 2 days pay, right there! ;D

Pity it'll have to go on bills! :-\

Better them than the taxman,

After work, a trip to the Cairo-practor (routine adjustment) and chatting in the street with a neighbour for half an hour I got some shed time.

Currawong parts are all painted and cleared and just need attaching tomorrow.
After that I masked the body of the Ford Sedan Delivery I started ages ago.  It's been white for a while and needs the second colour - Brunswick Green as its going to be a Gotham City PD canine unit.

Feel for you, Fred - pretty much the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago.
Sucks, but not much you can do.

Keep smiling.
And cranking out great builds too, of course!

In addition to this today I transferred the Mitchell, put some clear on the decals of the SkyCabRaider, sanded the Gnome, threw together a birdhouse/feeder and drained the fluids out of my motorcycle (quite a lot of which went in the receptacle provided).

Always better when the fluids that are being drained land in the receptacle provided... don't ask etc.

At least this time I didn't drop the drain plug or the allen key into the bowl.

More work on the Ford today.  I have dropped the back of the rear seat to continue the load bed up towards the back of the front seats.  Today I built a screen to sit behind the seats to keep the police dogs in the back and out of the doughnut box in the front.  Also filled gaps around the edges of the lowered seat back.
Mitch got the decals cleared and SkyCabRaider also got cleared.  Gnome got more PSR work and Dodge ute got some suspension and engine work.

I know they are not, but I still had to cover myself with "good morning Mr Magpie, good morning Mr Magpie, have a good day Mr Magpie". It's the only thing I'm superstitious about and we have loads of them around here.  :-X

Well, they are Australian Magpies, so maybe it's still appropriate ... When you're not shouting "Geddawayyabarstid!", as they're swooping you & trying to punch holes in the back of your skull. ;D

I used to say "Hello Captain" to the European ones and then throw them a salute.  Not sure where that came from.
I would also recite;
One for sorrow, two for joy,
Three for a girl, four for a boy,
Five for silver, six for gold,
and seven for a story never to be told.

The birds in the photo are Shazza and Junior.

As I still do sometimes, although I'm not sure if that's memories of ITV's Blue Peter competitor or rhymes told to me by my Gran ?

Apparently the European ones mate for life, which is where the "one for sorrow" line comes from.

Apparently the European ones mate for life ...

As do the Australian ones, the young also hang around for one (or is it two?) seasons after they're fledged to assist with raising the next hatching (or two).

Ah right. You quite often see large families of Magpies, especially in Spring, so maybe they do the same here as well ? Wasn't aware of that, I'll ask my bird watching mate. I'm always surprised how large they are close up.

We were watching Midsomer Murders at the weekend and there in the background was the distinctive call of the European Magpie.

Junior is Shazza's offspring.  It's too soon to tell if it's a boy or a girl - girls retain a grey back while boys go white.  Dad is called Dazza and was up in a tree keeping watch while they were feeding.

Only got in 1/2 hour before work today.  I'd brushed on some metaliser over the silver car paint on the Analogue yesterday and this morning I polished it up as proof of concept.  It worked well so I brushed some more on some random panels to break up the finish.

I only work half days on Fridays so I got a solid three hours in thisarvo.
Apart from work on the SkyCabRaider, Dodge and Gnome I did some paintwork on the interior of the Ford Sedan Delivery and some engine work on a '60 Chevy pick up (having accidentally bought four of the things I thought I should build one - it'll be OOB apart from a fuel injection set up from an earlier release of the kit).  I also painted some more different metaliser shades on panels on the Analogue.  I've now got top and bottom of one wing done.  I'm taking my time on this so as to maintain as random an appearance as I can and also to keep finger prints off it.
I finished by having a rummage through my "bagged kits" drawer as I knew I had a KP MiG 17 in there I wanted to grok.  I was thinking of starting it but instead my attention was drawn by an old Airfix Sea King.

I recently obtained the transfers to build this...

...and thought that as it's a single colour paint job it could be a nice quick and easy RW build.
The only obvious difference appears to be that the RAN chopper has a dorsal radome whereas the kit does not (although I am sure there are many less obvious ones).  I could find something to scratch one up or just not bother and thus make it a whiff.
The bags out on the bench.  However, I may change my mind again tomorrow...
