Very lucky you were wearing glasses when that blade snapped mate

Wow. Yeah, good thing.

It always cracks me up the "tough guys" that refuse to wear eye or hearing protection whenever the case calls for it then years later they can't hear and can't see. Well, I guess you proved how manly you are.  ;D    "Huh?  Step over to the light so I can see you and say that again?"   ;D

Boxcar looks good.... little homie there would fit right into the cockpit almost,..... like he could fly.  ;D

Might want to look into some safety glasses with bifocal lenses built in. The only place I can find them in the US is Menards. Or a lot less pressure on that blade!

I wore bi-focal safety glasses for the entire 30 yrs of my last job!  :o

I'm amazed you can't get them in the US, the opticians are missing a money making trick there.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

My hearing has deteriorated over the last ten years to the point where I can't distinguish conversation from background noise.  Makes it tricky serving customers in the post office if i'm on the counter closest to the music and almost impossible to chat in a busy pub.
I put this down to being a smartarse knowitall when younger and ignoring advice to wear ear plugs at rock concerts or when riding motorcycles.

I shall certainly take more care when using chisel blades in future.  I might even wear goggles (I have a pair in the airbrush cupboard.  But it's right at the opposite end of the shed from the bench...).

PS: Be careful with the undercarriage, it's very weak! Don't ask, et al.

My hearing's not brilliant, part of it's down to being born with a problem which they couldn't do anything with until I was a teenager (now they deal with it within a day or two of birth) and part is self inflicted because in my 20's etc you just didn't wear ear protectors when working with big mechanical tabulators etc. Nowadays you'd probably get the sack for not wearing them. Eyesight protection measures probably came into use 20 to 30 years before ear defenders came into general use. I suppose the next thing will be measures to protect your sense of smell - mines screwed by the way  ;)

Times just change.

They're available all over the place in the US,
and have been for a long time. Any safety
supply has them, online dealers, Amazon,
other big-box hardware chains aside from
Menard's etc.

That is so cool!!

Fred, I can't help but think some of this may have been spurred by somewhat recent talk of the film "Operation Dumbo Drop" over the last year or so. May even have been subconscious.....   ;D

Is it a Boxcar in Dumbo Drop?  I'll have to watch it again.
I know it's a Provider and a Porter (amongst others) in Air America.

No, not a Boxcar, you're right; I got it mixed up with my other "weird" USAF Thunderbirds plane, the Provider, in my mind I guess. Crossed wires on my part. I need a vacation.

I wasn't going to put any crew in the cockpit of the Boxcar but today I mocked it all up and realised that sloping windscreen means you can see right in on the front seats.
So I dug out three PJ Productions crew and started prepping them.
Sea King is progressing slowly.  Fit is poor and it's going to be a challenge PSRing it without losing all that wonderful rivettty goodness.
Painting the RAAF scheme on the Eggstang has started and i've also started painting the fiddley bits of the Analogue.

Sucks to sand off the raised detail on those kits... how'bout the PPP? Are you going to use it?
"Sticks and stones may break some bones but a 3.57's gonna blow your damn head off!!"

zenrat

I will use PPP.  Problem will be that parts fit is pretty poor.
I have a ponce (sic) wheel which can replace sunken rivet detail but raised is a different matter.  I've done it in 1/35 with dots of superglue but I don't think I can consistently create a small enough dot for 1/72.
I installed the crew today.

Speaking of crew.  This is the Boxcar crew courtesy of PJ Productions.

And I got the Analogue up units legs.  Lost a main undercarriage hydraulic strut in the process but scratched up a replacement.

Also continued painting the Eggstang.
