Of the Hasegawa egg planes some have pilots, others don't.
If those that have pilots are two seaters (Phantom for example) then they just have one.
All the Hasegawa box art features an Anime girl.  She does not come with the kit.

The Egg Shuttle has an astronaut in a space suit who can be suspended above the open cargo bay on a sprung steel wire, and very good he looks too.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I wish i'd bought the Egg Shuttle and Boeing Eggumbo Jet combo when I had the chance.

Eggstang is finished apart from installing the pilot and canopy.  I don't start work until 1 tomorrow so should get that done in the morning.

I've also glued together the wings, centre section, booms and stabiliser of the Boxcar.  This section alone would make a sweet ground attack plane or very heavy fighter.
Crew also went into their seats so I can start on closing up the fuselage.  I've glued the nose undercarriage box onto the Starboard half with NOSE WEIGHT written in big capital letters on it.  Who wants to bet I still get carried away and forget?
Of course what we really need is modelling anti-weight.  Tiny carbon buckyballs "filled" with vacuum which when glued into the tail of a model (where let's face it, there is always loads of room) create lift and prevent tail sitting.

I'm now pondering if I can claim to have had take away chinese for tea tonight and thus spend the next two weeks at home in quarantine in my shed building models...
;)

Eggstang is finished.  I have added it to this thread.

MiG 21 Analogue is almost finished.  I am pin washing panel lines.  This will take some time.

Boxcar got its nose weight.  I am trying a new technique - making dams of blu tac containing fishing weights and liquid gravity into which I pour PVA.
I will remove the blu tac before closing up.

Now, picture this with a single seat cockpit under a bubble canopy (and maybe a second crew member in a coal hole) and a wide flat fuselage carrying a number of large bore rapid firing guns.

Thanks Womby.  Phone camera has brightened up the green somewhat.  Most of it'll be hidden when its all closed up but I suppose i'll know its there.
I've painted the whole interior but test fitting shows it will just appear as a black hole when its done.

Savoia Marchetti ?  ;)

Nice work mate
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Savoia Marchetti?  That did occur to me.  I have a Dora Wings S.55 in the stash which i really must build.

Finished off the Analogue today.  I want to set up Dadswell Bridge to take the beauty pics.

And a "bugger!" moment on the Boxcar.
Having alrerady installed the cockpit I added more nose weight (zenrat's nose weight technique - if you remember to add it, add as much as you think it needs.  Then add some more.) and made a mental note of where to drill the hole when it proves not to be enough.  I then installed the interior ceiling and floor.
Boxcar WIP 31-01-2020 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr
I have weathered the floor somewhat to represent scuffing from cargo.  I didn't bother too much with the rest of the interior as it won't be seen through the open rear clamshells or open side door.  I did paint some of the moulded in switch boxes white.
At this point I decided to check that my intended load fitted...

...and swore.
Now, I have to decide whether to continue with the Mystery Inc theme or not.  I could try to find a 1/72 or 1/76 Econoline or A100 van to paint up.  Or I could use a 1/76 Airfix Landrover painted in a similar scheme (checking shows it should fit - and the1/72 Hasegawa step van in the US Pilots set is too tall).  Hmmmm, decisions decisions.  A blue, blue and NMF zenrat industries scheme is always an option but I wanted to do something other than zi for a change.

Airfix Sea King is annoying me.  I am getting repeated ghosting in the nose seams.

<edit>  Closest so far are 1/64 or 1/87 Econoline on shapeways.  I need to measure the height of the cargo hold - the Scooby van I have is 1/64.

For photos I could pose the van closer to the camera and "false perspective" it I suppose.

Although the Econolines on Shapeways do look nice...

I have a 1/72 Stalwart which would look great in Mystery Inc colours.  But I suspect it will be too tall or wide.

Hmmmm, wonder if I can get a scale forward control Landrover?

Or a regular scale Landie, and slap some stretched sprue and Evergreen on it.  There's not much special to most FAC-G vehicles.

IIRC, there was one   were two in the JB/Airfix range.

Or there was a scratchbuild article in an issue of Military Modelling or Airfix Magazine, don't recall which.

Thanks folks.
I didn't realise Airfix did a Land Rover 101 until I found one on evil-bay.  In the US though so postage is stupid.
The results of my rummaging in my small 1/72 & 1/76 vehicle stash reveals that SdKfz 231s and Stalwarts are too tall to fit into a Boxcar.
I do however have a '42 Ford sedan and a Mercedes G4.  Both of which I can see The Scooby Gang using.

You could chop the G4 into a 4-wheeler, and add a tin box on the back - sort of an early Panel Van-thingy?

Yeah - postage is usually the killer on most of these things...
