In my defence they were advertised on Evil-Bay as three.

But what did you build with THREE Heyfords?  :o

Correctamundo Scoot.  Captain Fat Hamster's Handley Page Henfield took parts from three Heyfords.  With the remains of the donor kits I have started constructing a Wellesley competitor (single engine, long winged monoplane).  That leaves me two complete kits, one to built OOB and one to whiff into an updated version with an enclosed cockpit and powered turrets.  Or a flying boat.

Here is the Boxcar resplendent in shiny silver paint.  The Mystery Inc. paintjob is next but it still smells like paint so has more gassing out to do before I mask it up.

So while I am waiting I started on its cargo.

Oh my life, I'd forgotten that wonder machine!

The powered turret and enclosed cockpit version would be a B-P Overstrandalike.  ;D

Oooooh. I can just imagine that as well

Lovely silver paint job on the Boxcar sir . I'm now seeing that as a jet powered job with huge intakes and fan in the nacelles and the jet exhaust underneath the booms.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Why not exhaust through some much larger booms?

Yea, but in my suggestion Fred doesn't have to mess with that lovely paint job quite so much  ;D

No, if I start messing with the Boxcar now i'll never get it finished.

However, they are not hard to find...

No modelling today.  I got called in to work early (sick colleague) and got home late (chores for Mrs z).

Boxcar paint.
Masking tape ripped some paint off the top of the fuselage all the way down to the plastic (have I mentioned I hate masking?) but then the seam split in the same place due to heavy handling so the finished was f**ked there anyway.  I may paint the roof white as a nod to a history as an ex USAF aircraft.
I have included the Hotwheels Scooby Van as reference material.

I agree, masking can be quite a frustrating ordeal but i'm sure you'll manage to get back in shape, it's looking very good anyway.

masking can indeed be a huge pain in the A**. could be badly applied primer?
i never airbrush metallic paints, its a pain to clean and half the time it doesnt apply properly.

nice paintjob btw

No matter about the masking foul ups, the scheme looks like a zinger!

The curious among you will have been wondering about how I will be applying the rest of the Mystery Machine paint scheme to the Boxcar.
Well I plan to hand brush a green panel on each side using a combination of a masked top edge and a drawn on wavy bottom and sides.  Also an orange flower.
Today I hand painted a white flower on each side.  Once I get a few more coats of white on I will use that as undercoat for the orange.  I will then mask the top edge of the green panel and hand paint it up to the edge of the orange.
Top of the fuselage will be white and I will print transfers saying "Mystery International" to go along the tail booms.  It will have US rego.  Hopefully I can find one previously used by Air America as that would be a nice touch for the back story.
