You guys crack me up.

So, finished the GB Trespasser.  Just two more to complete before 14-10-21.  Defiant should be easy as it's just the fiddly bits and they are all as Airfix intended (unless the ventral camera turret hits the ground - I haven't checked that but it looks OK).  The mounted recce trooper I am procrastinating slightly with.  I tend to do this when I am not confident with new techniques or am unsure if I can pull off the result I desire.  In this case it's the rigging saddlery? tack? strappy bits the horse wears.  The bridle parts are mostly moulded in place but Airfix have you cut strips of this plastic card (supplied) to specified lengths and widths to make the rest.  That part I can do, it's getting it to attach neatly, hang like real leather straps, and then painting them to look realistic that is giving me thought to pause.  ISTR having issues with this part when I built these kits as a youth.

That's one of the many joys of Whiffworld!

Really nice piece of work, that Trespasser.

Have you considered cutting very fine strips of "lining leather" to make the rigging for the horse.......... and have a word with brother Narses about saddlery, he has a niece who knows all about that sort of kit.

Putty, sand, repeat should fix it  ;)

And the horses accoutrements are called "tack" and are amongst some of the most complicated pieces of equipment I've ever seen. I'm always amazed by horses/ponies/donkey's patience when it comes to having these put on them, but then they have worn them since foals if intended for riding.

Apart from a lick of clear in a few places the Fokker is finished.
Here's a poor photo.

I was going to ask if there were any wealthy photo's ... but I figured we'd already done the stupid. ;D ;)

She looks good in that pic &, as Chris said, one needs to be reminded how small those old WW1 scouts were. :o

That looks very good but what really gets my attention is the wood grain effect on the prop.

He must mix his own paint for that..................  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Thanks folks.

It's sitting on a 4" square (or thereabouts) drinks coaster.

DFZ - the woodgrain is a happy accident - the result of Vallejo model air acrylic brushed on over grey primer.  As the paint is airbrushing consistency in the bottle it is too thin to cover properly in one coat visible brush marks remained.  I was going to do the whole "brushing woodgrain with a scrubby old brush followed by a coat of clear yellow" thing but it looked pretty good as it was so i just left it.

As my first WW1 aircraft build for about 40 years I think it turned out OK (touching wood I don't screw something up adding the finishing touches).

It was a good call to stop where you did, i was thinking you'd used some wood grain decals or something fancy like that. That was a happy accident indeed.

Not intentional but seems like that's what did the trick. ;)

I've taken some pics of the Fokker.  I shall endeavour to upload them and knock up a quick back story.
Defiant comes first though.
