Staghound's looking good. I hope the primer doesn't block the gun barrel perferations.

Both looking very good, Fred!

I don't know what Fred's using as a primer but the Tamiya Fine Surface Primer I use certainly doesn't.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

I use rattle can enamel primer from Hammerbarn.
I'll mask the barrels...

Better safe then sorry. It'd be a shame to spoil them, they look that good

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Thanks dudes.

With the Ute I'm going for well used rather than clean.  Not dirty but worn and shabby with a little light rust where paint is worn and chipped.  And hardly any paint left on the floor of the tub where loads have been dragged in and out.

Battle now has her legs and her exhausts in place and i've painted her torpedo.

Primed the Staghound today.

Wheels onto the Battle.  Tailwheel added...
...only to discover that if I use the unmodified Beaufort torpedo rack then there is a clearance issue.  Modifications are underway.

1/24 toolbox stickers for the HiLux printed.

I spent some time yesterday clearing undergrowth.
At the end of the street here is the cemetery and running between the road and the cemetery is an easement for powerlines.
When we moved here 18 years ago you used to be able to walk along the easement through the trees under the powerlines.  However over the years the undergrowth has grown and it became impassable.
On Sunday I decided to take my trusty sabre saw and reopen the path.  It wasn't easy as every time the power company crews cut back the trees under the lines they just dropped the cut branches where they stood and the undergrowth had grown up through them - blackberries and watsonias.
Also, cut back stumps had sprouted long thin whippy shoots.
At one point my glasses were flicked off by a shoot I was wrestling.  Now I am VERY short sighted and can see nothing without specs so after a token grope about at my feet I placed the saw on the ground (to indicate roughly where I had lost them) and stumbled home to get another pair.  When I returned I found them almost immediately as light was reflecting off the lenses.
Despite all that I got it done.  Princess Charlie the Wonder Dog and I can now walk along the easement instead of in the road.
And all the scratches on my arms and legs will eventually heal I am sure (yes, I know, long sleeves and legs might have been a good idea).
No Kit, no snakes.  I made sure I made enough noise that any there would have fled.

On the modelling front the Battle is now finished.  I've taken some pics and am attempting to write a back story.

Staghound is ready to paint.  I just have to make a decision about colour(s).  Original plan was Caunter Scheme but masking would be very tricky especially in the areas between the wheels where the fuel tanks and storage boxes are.

Hilox has its toolbox stickers and number plates on.  I just needs it's wombat hole muffler attaching and some more grubbing up done as certain bits look too clean.

MiG 15 got more Alclad Aluminium.  I'd tried to brush paint some panels with different metal shades and stuffed one of them up so I sanded it back and then put on an extra light coat over the whole airframe.  Looks good and has improved some thin patches from the first attempt which I had been procrastinating about.

But how did you avoid the carnivorous spiders, koalas, wombats, roos and other Oz-specific fauna?
