Thank you very much!

(and also for adding the gallery pic )

Captain Canada

No, thank you ! To me, that's the perfect whif ! Would have been a good competitor to the A-4. Just imagine the whif possibilities ? Hmmmm

Thanks for the nomination of my Do 335B-12, it should be pointed out that this model IS a what-if. The W.Nr. of the model 240161 is correct for the type of aircraft but this W.Nr. was not actually used...not even close.

There were no Do 335B-12's actually built but there were plans to do so and if the war had lasted another half year they might have actually been mass produced. As it was not even a single prototype was built.

The models I prefer to build are late war Luftwaffe and Luft'46 subjects, the rule I have concerning Luft'46 models in my collection is that they be finished in such a way that they look like they were operational and that includes painting them in authentic camouflage colors and patterns when possible.
This what-if Ta 152C is painted and marked to represent a KG(j)27 aircraft, a handful Ta 152C's were built but none were used by KG(j)27.

Few here realize the effort I put into my what-ifs into making them look like they were operational machines, true I don't always cut up models to make a what-if out of them but with ultra late war aircraft like the Ta 152C and Ho 229 putting models of them in logical and sensible camo and markings can have even the most hardcore JMN scratching their heads and leafing through their reference books...I know this because some have wrote me and admitted they were taken in. ;)

Cheers for the clarification Matrixone.

That's the true "underneath the radar" spirit!  Whiffing has so many facets, it's IMHO always good to fill a niche.
And I can confirm such requests and even insults (for being duped) even for kitbashings! Since then I added a bold disclaimer under any beauty pic in my FlickR galleries, but it still does not help much.  :-\

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I very much appreciate that. Your research must take as long as building the model sometimes.

As I can never tell the difference between m1's RW builds & his whifs, I just take him at his word.

Otherwise I'd spend all my days researching what he has already done ... Which is a pointles waste of my time. :banghead:

Maybe matrixone needs his own category; "MicroWhifs" - where microscopic details & miniscule time-shifts are the difference between this & the Whif World!

Heck, if you want to worry about that level of subtlety you want to try the Wooksta's Spitfires.
He once challenged me to detect the Whiffiness in one of them.
I looked and looked and looked and in the end gave up.
So why was it a What If?
The camouflage was RW, the physicality of the model was RW, the markings were, Ah not quite RW.
The only thing that was Whiffy was the fact that there was one more kill marking than in real life.

I'd like to propose Radish's Short/Beriev flying boat in the Best Multiprop, Best Alternative Marking and/or Best Flying Boat(???) category:

Problem is that model was built in 2009.

The Capt is on a nostalgia trip which is why it's come up again
