I start with the white and add the other colours on top.

Looks good.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Yes, well, that would be the sensible way to do it. Good point! I'll have to do that - a couple of the 1/72 ones will need stripes too.

Thanks again for the kind words, all! I hope to finish the stripes this weekend and scratch some kind of hook for the belly.

It might be sensible but according to something I was reading in a model magazine it's not the "right way" to paint model aircraft.

Come come, Zenrat.  We all know there is no right way to paint a model.  Or real aircraft for that matter-

That photo right there, makes me feel better about the brush strokes that manage to show up on my WW2 models :P

 Unfortunately I'm modelling a preserved aircraft operated by the contemporary military, so I'm trying to make it a little more refined than the wartime real deal!

WE know that.  It seems some modelling writers have yet to learn it.
I very quickly learnt one of the quickest way to start a fight on a modelling forum was to ask for the "right" way to do something.
Nice pic.  Not seen it before.

All that is missing are some brush hairs and a gigantic thumb print.
The Leng Plateau is lovely this time of year

If anyone produced a roundel decal like that the reviewers would have complained about 'poor colour density'..........  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

And the "weathering" from the exhaust is actually accurate, too!

not my photo, this one is based close to me and is gorgeous

No progress on WA201 this weekend, I was going to do another coat of white but I ran out so she went back in the box so I could concentrate on an FW190 and a couple of dinosaurs.

No photos but the invasion stripes were completed a week or so back, next step is adding the scratched arrestor hook.

However this and all other projects are now in storage as another has priority: I'm building a new-tool Airfix Lancaster as B.III ND908 JN-M, which was lost with all crew over Aachen in late May 1944. My fiancee's great-uncle was aboard on his "second dickey" trip...having spent only two days on the squadron. As her grandparents have failing health the "family" Lanc has priority, I'd like for her grandfather to see his brother's plane.  :)

Kittiwake updates in a while.
