All change at SAM

Got my latest edition of SAM today and it's all change.

Jay Laferty has left the editors chair which means that Neil Robinson has moved in for a couple of months as temporary editor while they sort a new one out. The magazine certainly has the look of one that has been put together rather hastily although as far as content goes it's absolutely fine.

I just hope that these changes mean that we return to reviews that are actually that and not just pretty pictures and a "I opened the box and a week latter here it is" type of thing which to be honest is what a lot had become of late. I know I could "read" the mag in an hour or so.

Hooray, at least Neil knows what he's doing!

Presumably we've seen the last of the monster wooden Spitfire build and the thinly disguised commercials for Mr. Laferty's other business interests as well.

I may buy it again now.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I get these magazines all mixed up but if SAM is the one with predominantly red and yellow covers, and a comp/graphic picture of a featured model on the front, then I'm going to miss spotting all the spelling mistakes and mis-labelled images etc (if he does his job properly). Genuinely, you can spend a couple hours on the loo doing that .

I hope so, it's part of the reason I rarely pick up modelling magazines these days.  I've noticed even Airfix Model World have gone down that route now.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Jay was fired. And very suddenly.

And his replacement is currently working out his notice period at his soon to be former employer. And Im not sure you will like who it is.

Gary Hatcher!
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Yup that was absolutely pointless in my view, but once started it's difficult to pull back from a decision like that. Could have made it quarterly but that's about all.

It is and yes it did have rather more of those then it should have had. To be honest after the first 3 or 4 my brain filtered them out

Flippin eck. That's a surprise. Must admit I have no problem with Gary, nor Jay for that matter. Had some dealings with Gary when he bought a couple of bits from me and he was a decent lad. When Jay worked at the Big H in Colindale he actually worked. When you went in he actually helped you/served you while all the others chatted with their mates
