A sight I never thought to see.

A very enjoyable programme with the early 1980s Jimmy Saville adverts neatly airbrushed into obscurity.

Nice interview Kit - does a new career in TV becon?

Oh gawd, I thought I'd kept that hidden.

Actually that's the seventh TV prog I've done, all on the APT of course. Glad you liked it. :)

Eh? I wonder why?

Ah, I know. Because it's a BBC progamme we UK citizens have paid for it via our licence fees and those outside haven't, how silly.

Here you are, taken in TC2 on the APT-E in the museum at Shildon about a year ago, wearing my smart blazer and APT tie of course.  ;D

Just watched it through on the iplayer, despite not being a licence payer (can of worms, isn't it?)... ;)

Well done Kit, both yourself and the story came across really well.

That's the instrumentation rack in Trailer Car 2 on the Advanced Passenger Train Experimental. I had the good luck to be the tilt system development engineer on the train and spent six years on the project, and I still look after it now it's in a museum. This is the train itself, TC2 is the second vehicle from the right.

Yes but we pay for it all over again Kit, plus whatever commercials they put on through it.

That was a very good, informative and honest look at British Railways in the postwar era. Too many people wear rose-tinted specs when looking back at the days of steam.
