Underside decals:

Had two fright on this one: 1. the gloss varnish looked yellow after 4 hours, but went white after 48 hours, and 2. half the self-print serial decals curled up and fell right off! Then I realised it was the Micro-Set: apparently some of the self-print decal films don't like it. Put another set on with plain water and they worked fine.

I've found that a few times too. It seems to depend on the spray varnish you use to seal them rather than the paper used, no idea why though.

I tend to use Humbrol acrylic matt varnish because the enamel varnish sometimes makes the ink spread.

Opinion please? What size roundels should I use on the upper wings? I have a choice of the same size as you see in the pic, or some that are about 50% bigger diameter. From what I can see, the ones on white Buccaneers were quite small.

Go with the small ones, the A-4's not called a 'Scooter' for nothing.

The tan radome really looks the business, something I never thought of until you mentioned it ref. the Buccaneer 1s.

Yeah, I think I'm going with the small ones. I've offered both up, and apart from aesthetics, another point is that the small ones can go further outboard while still fitting in front of the vortex generators, thus avoid a tricky decal-setting situation.

Looking good so far, and yes keep the upper wing roundels the same as the underwing ones. That glossed resin radome really does work well against the white fuselage

Looks good. it has puzzled me as to why Airfix decided to have flashed over holes for some outer pylons, when the A-4B, A-4C or A-4L never had them..

Maybe they have plans for other versions but don't want to change the wing moulds? The Lightning F2A has flashed over holes for the F6's overwing tanks IIRC.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yes, if you look at the way the sprues are laid out, everything on the wing sprues is generic to any Skyhawk, while the fuselage sprues have things like the "Argie" bomb on them.
