Perhaps a good thing NASA didn't use KSP2 as a 'proof of concept' simulation.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Also, the real reason for the KSP2 launch delays:

Okay, so the first patch for KSP-2 has just dropped and it has... 281 FIXES!!!

So many, in fact, that nobody's managed to review it properly yet. Here's a few edited hightlights:

Scott Manley's done a loooong livestream about it, but I haven't had time to watch it yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg4kFDJNL98

Nice find Scooter!

I suppose I should have posted about this before now, but it was too depressing:

KSP2 is dead.

About three months ago, Intercept Games pulled the plug and shut down the team developing it. There was little communication and players had to basically figure it out for themselves when somebody spotted the notice-of-closure posted to local government where the KSP-2 office was located, and people then saw well-known members of the dev team looking for new jobs on Linkedin. The game is still available, but no development work is taking place.

Shadowzone seems to have developed the best contacts behind the scenes and put together this pretty impressive post-mortem:

KSP-1 is still going and there seems to be some appetite for taking it as far as possible towards KSP-2 by using mods.

So two bits of news on the KSP front:

1. Take Two have sold off Private Division to an unknown company, which means the latter now owns the intellectual property rights to KSP and KSP2. Who they are and what they intend to do with it is a complete mystery so far.

Shadowzone video:

2. A new KSP-ish game with the WORKING title "Kitten Space Agency" (KSA) has been announced. This is being done by a completely different studio called RocketWerkz that has no business links to any of the previous KSP companies. Having said that, the founder is an ex-KSP modder and several prominent former members of the KSP world, including Felipe Falanghe, AKA HarvesteR, who invented KSP in the first place, are on-board. It's early days yet, but the KSA team seem to be going about things the right way by first designing their own game engine, specifically structured for space games, instead of building on an existing commercial engine like Unity. The latter was the source of many of the infuriating bugs and insurmountable development problems that both KSP and KSP2 faced.

Shadowzone has done a video about it:

Nate Simpson, creative director for KSP2, has broken radio silence with a short video. No great insider details since he's signed an NDA. Some of the blame for KSP2's failure probably lies with him, but the consensus is that the vast majority of it lies with the execs of the companies responsible.

Nobody in the know doubts that it was a passion project for Nate. He put seven years of his life into it, and frankly, he sounds broken. :-\
