Today's Christmas Eve shenanigans involve building IKEA Ivar in our spare room.  Well, more like taking two of the Ivar cabinets which single stack (I think?) and turning them into a double stack cabinet for the cat blankets.

I built quantities of  IVAR  last year,  to transform a double garage into a storage area.   This was for a lady in the village who has spent her life collecting vintage clothing, hats, shoes, handbags etc and wanted it all organised.  I was paid a  case of Pinot Grigio  for a couple of days work.....seemed like a good deal to me!  Madame R was there as my gorgeous assistant (but no gold lame leotard) to  pass me pieces as required and offer critical comments.

One piece of advice I would offer is to go round the whole construction a couple of weeks after assembly, and tighten everything up.

Contemplations on yet another Scooter's Randomness CGI thingy

How to get a crew of ancient Egyptians into space and into the modern/near future/far future eras, without going all Stargate/SG1?

star trek style slingshot, the USS ????  loses a lot of crew and some of the folks that help, go  forward with them.
From one of the Iain M Banks books, one of the older races turns up and pulls people off any promising planet, to ensure the race survives.
Poul Anderson's the high crusade is similar ish,  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_High_Crusade.

A slaver race turns up, kidnaps them and puts them in statis pods, as they leave a combination of shoddy shipbuilding and old fashioned Earth germs causes the slavers to die, and the ship to go into a cometry orbit ( similar to the 80`s Buck Rodgers)

if i think up anything else ill add it later
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

A pair of senior academics at an alien university have a bet that primitives from an uncontacted planet they were observing couldn't be evolved/selectively bred to a stage where they could operate a simple sub-light shuttle.

There are several things to be somewhat terrified about at the moment, do you have anything in particular in mind?

More random CGI thoughts...

A Shorts Sunderland leading a formation of B-17s with Corsair and P-40 escort somewhere in the SW Pacific.

My commute give me *way* to much time to think some days

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

zenrat

Would the Sunderland have a lead ship paint job?

Quote from: NARSES2 on September 02, 2022, 05:37:58 AMInteresting mix Scoot,

I was thinking about it as a (dangling) plot thread in Undercooked Adventures, wherein a Cold War scenario has settled in post-armistice (link to Reply #19 to jog memories), with some further refinement of the referenced post (Kit's Rule #2) and into a "low-intensity" conflict, with the primary mercenary forces based Australian-administered (and liberated) Papau, with the bombers based at the (old) Jefman Airport, outside Sorong, and the fighters based in Aru, and ThunderPig's hoom base somewhere in between

Quote from: zenrat on September 02, 2022, 06:37:01 AMWould the Sunderland have a lead ship paint job?

No, because it'll be right there at the forefront of the formation, heading into Japanese occupied territory (the Philippines, Sulawesi, eastern Borneo), and/or peel off and be the formation's air-sea rescue resource.
