Sounds like start of a movie script.  ;)

Or a song title  ;)

Best of luck with the new job Scoot

Oooops.

How long is the commute?

By car, about 90 minutes.  By rail, and assuming I don't miss the last station again, a little over 2 hours, but without the aggravation of rush hour .

Thanks guys.  And Croydon PA, looks absolutely nothing like the proper Croydon

One thing about a commute of that length by train is that you'll be able to catch up on your reading.

Can seem like it on an evening as well nowadays (I am getting old  :banghead:).

Oh and it hasn't been part of Surrey since 1965  ;)

One Friday night after a few* post work swift halfs I fell asleep on the train home.
After travelling from London to Brighton to London to Brighton to London I was half way back to Brighton when I was awakened at 3am by the platform announcer at Gatwick Airport Station saying the train terminated there and anyone still on it (basically just me) should get off.  I went up to the airport concourse, used the facilities and then slept on a metal bench.
The only good thing about the whole experience was when I was reawakened by the cleaners there was available to purchase coffee, fried food and bottled water.

*probably about 12.

Only 6 pints, you should be ashamed unless they were one of these silly 5.8% or similar brews  ;) ;D

Fell asleep on the bus a few times, and a mate fell asleep under the couch in the pub only to be discovered by the cleaners in the morning  ;D

After spending many boring hours trundling around BR's metals on Class 8 test trains in the 70s (meant we were the lowest of the low and even slow freights had priority!) I found I could go to sleep standing up so long as I wedged myself into a suitable corner.

I've not tried it in recent years, beds are a MUCH better choice!  ;D

I tended to go for beers of around 5%.
Mrs z once fell asleep sitting at the bar in a London Blues venue while a band were playing.

Mrs_PR19 once fell asleep at a club in Derby we used to go to.

Except we had the table nearest the stage and the band playing was Rainbow!  :o

Ah, I tend to be a 3.8% to 4.2% man nowadays. My favourite couple of bitters are 3.8%

So, as I dabble in fiction, I'm in need of some good sources of RN courts martial that don't require booking a trip to Kew Gardens, particularly called due to grounding or other noncombat loss.  Online is preferred, but hardcopy is always appreciated.

And why Royal Navy courts martial over US Navy courts martial?  Because the size of the RN, particularly during the age of sail, leads to a larger source of primary sources
