Well here's my latest couple.

First up is yet another version of Airfix's new tool fabric wing Hurricane.

This one represents an aircraft of Delta 129 of the 2nd Mira Royal Greek AF 1941. She is finished in a rather unusual 3 colour upper camouflage scheme which was actually used on the real Delta 129 (a PZL P.24G). My interpretation uses Lifecolor's  Dark Earth, Dark Green and Xtracrylic RLM 79 (the darker shade) for the upper surface colours with White Ensigns Light Mediterranean Blue for the lower colours. Markings are from the Azure kit of the PZL P.24G. A nice build which looks sufficiently different I think.

Second up is the Aliance kit of theRepublic P-72, which I have called the Thunderstorm.

This has been on the go for quite a while and is built out of the box except for the propeller and spinner which were giving me real problems so I used a late marque Spitfire one (I think)

She is finished in the 2 blue scheme used by 63rd F.S./ 56th F.G. flying out of Boxted in the summer of 1946 in my scenario. Paints are from Xtracrylic, markings are from the Revell P-47. A nice kit which I screwed up a bit. The cockpit is a bit lopsided for one and I'd like to get another to give her the build she deserves.

Finally a real world build.

Airfix's new tool Defiant which is a delightful kit. Built out of the box using Xtracrylics and Lifecolor paints.

Awesome stuff Chris, on all three of them!

That Airfix Hurricane I just looks better and better with everyone that shows up here and in a Greek scheme it's terrific, those roundels look the business.

As for the Thunderstorm, what a superbly appropriate name, well done. I think you're right about that prop being ex-Spitfire, it looks the same as the one you gave me for my MB8 Marlin. That's one BEEFY looking aeroplane.

The Defiant looks a treat, I've got two of the kits sitting right beside me as I write and it's good to see how it comes out. What's the story on the pale blue on the fin flash please?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Really like the Thunderstorm especially, she looks great!  A real natural for contra-props

An underside shot of her would be great as well.

All well done.

Thunderstorm is awesome

Other two look great too .

What he said ;D. Those little Airfix kits really do look nice, must have a go one day. Maybe the Shack'll finally tip me over.

Very nice Chris.

The P-72 just screams for a clipped wing, teeny-tiny canopy raceplane makeover.

Yep, no doubt, all 3 look good but the P-72 is just awesome!  I also like the name, it probably would sound like a thunderstorm anyway ;D, i think it suits it very well!

Nice couple!

Love the "F-UN" code on the P-72's right flank...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

If you look at the instructions in the kit, Kit it says that the actual aircraft apparently had pale blue on the fin flash. However they provide the traditional darker colours for those not convinced with this interpretation. I went with Airfix's research

Wish I could say it's intentional on my part  It's the way the real P-47 in these markings wore them

Thank you gents.

I had toyed with calling the P-72 the Thunderclap but went with Thunderstorm in the end.

My next 3 Hurricanes will be -

RAF one but with the Airfix Spitfire Nk I pre war markings. The Spit will get the 111 Sqd ones.
Royal Norwegian AF
RAF Desert AF but with a pair of underwing 20mm cannon and 2 0.303 Brownings per wing

JayBee

Love all three of them.

However I am not sure about the contra-prop for the Thunderstorm.
The shape of the spinner is not quite right for a Spitfire unit.
The shape of the blades is really not correct for a Spitfire unit.
The diameter looks too large for a Spitfire unit.
However it all looks so perfect for the Thunderstorm.
If it came from a Spitfire kit, ARGH! but it really does look perfect here. I wonder where it came from?

Alle kunst ist umsunst wenn ein engel auf das zundloch brunzt!!

Sic biscuitus disintegratum!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

Having checked again it may well be a Shackleton one. I do seem to have rather a few Aeroclub white metal ones for some reason
