ok, there have been all kinds of proposals for different civilian and military variants of Airbus's A320 family of short- to medium range aircraft. some civilian standard versions are already in Military use as VIP & transport aircraft (users include France (A320), Italy (A319), Thailand (A320), Belgium (A321),...).

some military variants include a SIGINT variant of the A320.

the NATO AGS (Airborne Ground Sensor) based on the A321.

a Maritime patrol version of the A319 (aswell as a version of the A320) was also proposed to India, but went for the Boeing P-8.
the aircraft is still being proposed to those interested, maybe in a few years time they can be concidered to replace the German P-3C orians and French Dassault Atlantique 2's, maybe even be viable as a Nimrod replacement for the RAF.

Like your "wedgetail"

Agree, the airframe has some good WHIF potential.

Very nice. I like the idea of using it as a military platform. All of those sizes od aeroplanes and all that commonality.....

yesterday at the 2018 Singapore Airshow, Airbus has revieled possible military derivatives of theyre new A320neo family.
they are offering AWACS, MPA, VVIP and ISR variants.

Sadly I don't see much more of a future for the NEO MPA than the old platform.

Most Western-aligned forces will just buy the P-8 by default and without competition, since that's what Uncle Sam offers through FMS.  Those who can't for political reasons probably won't have the Airbus available, either, due to its US content.

Perhaps the French would adopt it for an ATL2 replacement but I can't see much beyond that.

Why doesn't this surprise me?  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
