...
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Fascinating!  I do hope their book covers the NAA studies for SST variations on the B-70.  There's an absolutely fascinating article on these in a back issue of APR.

man, imagine the Thunderbirds doing some of their aerobatics in that beast.
Man, we should have cloned twenties. Jackson wouldn't have given a poo-poo.

Then you'd need to do an Air Force One version, escorted by production A-12's.  Or perhaps US-purchased Arrows?  I can see the diorama now!

It makes a fellow itch for a 1/48 kit of the XB-70, doesn't it. . .

1/48????? That would be huge!!!!!!

The XB-70 in 1/72 is a very big model in itself, besides, Hobbycraft has 1/72 Arrows....LOL!!!

See if I can't find pictures of a 1/72 XB-70 one of the club members built.

Thanks

That's...huge! :blink:

Looking at those alternate ideas, you'd need a pretty long runway to get that thing up in Antarctica.  You'd have to be careful that you didn't melt the icecap. :lol:

The only reason I say 1/48 is that's what most of my stuff is right now.  It would definitely be one huge SOB.  There's a 1/48 scratchbuilt XB-70 on Hyperscale:

Big'un

He says it's over 4' long (one of you guys that are good at math could verify what the exact dimensions would be at 1/48).

I had a great time doing the Revellogram 1/48 B-1 (looking forward to doing another one soon).  It was big, and awkward, and there was nowhere to put it when it was finished.  But it was a fun build.  I think a 1/48 XB-70 would only be more so.

Thank heavens I do this for pleasure, and not self-abuse, or I'd attempt a scratchbuild myself!

A visit to Ottawa escorted by both Arrows and Rapiers :) Especially if the escorts were in special markings.

QuoteWonder if I can get it to the Nats?
is Steve Backley available?  :huh:

How about a UPS delivery plane? ;)

How about an MR version?

Interceptor?

Tanker for round-the-world-at-Mach-1 attempt?

I'll go now...

That plane is one of the coolest lookers ever.  B)

Wish I still had my old Lindberg one.  :(  The black w/ red would really stand out.

Although, a grey-over-white maritime patrol version...

Or a high-speed interceptor version, with the bomb bay modified for a whole lot of AAMs on special ejector racks that can shoot them into a supersonic slipstream...

BTW: White Ensign Models is reputed to have their own SR-71 for deliveries. Somehow they manage to ship things to the Americas faster than firms within country!
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.
