RAF Trainer Yellow

I've a few second line aircraft in the pipeline and was wondering if there is a Halfords car spray paint that's a near equivalent to RAF trainer yellow ? Yellow can be a pig to brush paint.

Any help wellcome

They used to do a Yellow Primer that I gloss sprayed over for a trainer once. I'm not sure if they still do it but it may be worth a look.

I don't think Halfords sell paint for Lamborghinis  ;D but they're the only manufacturer I know who offers a bright yellow as standard.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Not standard issues but Honda did a bright yellow "Jordan Special", and Ford did a bright yellow Puma special edition.

...and having just checked their web site Halfords list 19 different yellow rattle cans, plus it looks like they still do the yellow primer that Kit mentions.

JCB's are a tad orange for Trainer Yellow don't you think?

Fiat Broom Yellow is a close enough match.  That's what I've used for the past decade for RAF yellow.  Incidentally, I've used it today for a Tempest trainer.

Except Trainer Yellow is pre BS (I had a snoot on CJ to see if they did it)  :banghead:

Yup I checked as well and most of them are labelled as Gold

Yup I checked for a BS number as well so found that out. Otherwise I'd have ordered it from CJ Aerosoles. I have a couple of colours I need from them

Chris, here's some pics of a Horten using the Fiat Broom Yellow that Lee mentioned.  It's a bit brighter than Humbrol 24 (if you look closely at the pics there are few touch ups using that colour!).

It's fairly close, if not spot on.

Tin of Broom Yellow purchased from Sutton Halfords yesterday which is the only local'ish Halfords you don't need a car to get to. Lucky I was in Sutton for lunch  :thumbsup:

Where DO they get the names from?

There was once a BL colour called 'Torque Grey' that was actually reddish brown. Eh?  :unsure:

I know a chap who owns 4 Rover P6s and all the colours of that era have odd descriptions like Tobacco Leaf yellow, Mustard brown, Damson, Pimento, Mallard (blue or green?).
Quite what colours Antelope or Armadillo or Kashmir were is up to you?!
