Ok thought i would get the ball rolling on the start date with a build of one of the two part proposal for a possible solution to fill the UKs MPA capability gap created by the withdrawal and cancellation of Nimrod. The preferred service solution is the same one as the USN and RAAF have adopted to replace Orion with a mixed force of manned P-8A Posiedons coupled with a number of unmanned long endurance RQ-4N Triton drones.

Whilst i do have a Posiedon, its a mixed media kit and beyond the reach of a 1 week GB, however the Triton is relatively simple, so well within scope.

I am using the Platz 1/72 RQ-4N Triton kit, which will be built OOB and finished in USN scheme with RAF markings.

And were away, photos to follow once i have something to show  ;)

Good Luck everyone else

Interesting, nice straight forward build just a shame my battery died after the first two shots and i only found the recharger when i was looking for my Airbrush stuff  :banghead:

I actually had to get my Airbrush going again after a 12 mth lay off as most of last years build what they were i had used rattle cans, so that was fun getting that back upto speed again.

Built OOB, smidge of filler in some joints but not a bad fit, but if a big bugger and Kit would love these wings on something  ;D.

The kit

Initial assembly

Painted & Decalled

Size comparrison with a V-22 Osprey

Will try and get some decent picks for the finished builds thread, but i've managed to get it done during Easter Weekend as busy during the week to prevent a more ambitious build such as the VG Sea Lightning i really wanted to do  :banghead:

Possibly, its not too bad as relatively narrow of Wing and the fuselage is rather short, but those wings are just what Kit likes, long and narrow.

You could always put it on a raised stand, or even better...a rotating stand!

You're not kidding!

Is that 1/72 scale? If so the real thing is HUGE!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The Global Hawk has a 35m wingspan, the Boeing 727-200 only has 33m.  :o ;D
