So is the Lego figure...The Spirit of Greg Ewald?

could be, i bough a bunch of lego packets some time ago and got 4 of them

anyway, i have a last update for today.  ;D

about 24 hours into the restarted build and progress is suprisingly good.

the whole thing is now pretty much assembled, except for the exhausts and the props.
a already applied a first layer of aluminium paint (using Revell 99), second layer should be for tomorrow, with the decals shortly after.
on friday im planning on sealing the whole thing in with a layer of gloss varnish, but could take a bit longer as i want to add some darker metal patches on certain areas. the prop is already fully painted and decaled.

last pictures for today:

It's coming along well!  I have one of those airfix Mustangs almost finished and the only thing wrong that i found is that the canopy and it's sliding part are a bit too long. It's only a problem if you want a closed canopy like me, otherwise it should look ok.

Love it !     :dalek:

Great stuff Nils. Funny how a re-start of a good kit can surpass the build stage of the first kit in a matter of minutes eh ? And be a much more enjoyable build. The details are looking great.

UPDATE:

ok, second layer of aluminium has now been applied and is drying fast.
im gonna let it dry till tonight, when the nose will be taped off for the black and dark metal paints.

decals should be for later tonight or tomorrow.

Picture update:

im nearing completion, the second layer of aluminium dryed really quiclky thanks to the hot spring temperatures today  ;D
so i found the time to mask the top of the nose section and paint the black top of the nose.
depending on how quick the matt black paint dryes, i can then start on the final detail painting, followed my stencil data decals.

here's a picture of how it looks now, shortly after the black paint was applied and masking tape removed.

EDIT: not visible on the picture, but shortly after this picture was taken, i masked off the plating arround the engine exhausts and painted it in a darker stainless steel color (revell 91). this was the final paintwork to be done on the model, and i will now start applying stelcil data decals, followed by the Belgian markings. a layer of varnish should also be done tonight or tomorrow, but she will most definatly be finished tomorrow.

That one is pretty - simple, but the colorful roundels really add an edge. An the 'stang looks plausible, too.
