Reading elsewhere says it was in drydock so they just let the water back in!  :o

Got to be quicker than even a LOT of hoses, and quick thinking on the part of the dock-master. The sub was already closed up so the interior didn't get wet.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Indeed, yard fires can be very serious.  I can't help but think this may be her demise.     

Looked up the history of the Orel, interesting note from Wiki: "The Russian newspaper Izvestia reported that Orel is to be overhauled in 2013. She is to have her shaft-line changed to correct problems during construction that left her very easily tracked by sonar."

So she must have been a noisy boat.  One ping only......

I think everyone does, thanks to a certain former James Bond who spoke (pretty decent) Russian with a Scottish accent, anyway
