Had this idea tonight:  I've got both MPC Star Wars Rebel Hoth base models, one with the AT-AT walkers battleing the Rebel troops, and the other with the interior of Hoth Echo rebel base with X-wings, etc.   I was thinking of whiffing these two model base displays to show a what if German Nazi antarctic secret base, complete with small UFO's and other secret weapons and aircraft. What do you think? Any other ideas or suggestions?
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

You could go 'Iron Sky' and set it on the moon rather than Ice

How about a secret Japanese Antarctic base?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Nah. I'd rather do an Antarctic base. I used to read long, long ago conspiracy stories and ufo books about Nazis having a base in Antarctica. This would make for an interesting diorama. Something that nobody has ever seen or done before. I'd populate the Rebel Hoth base hangar with tiny ufo's and German 1/350 or 1/700 scale aircraft. For the other Star Wars exterior base, I'd keep the generator parts and also the Rebel gun towers.

No thanks.

You would need to build some tiny snowcat type machines.

Went to my best friend's house today to pick up a model I built for him long ago, but which I want to "borrow" back again for a contest soon. But while I was at his house, I also picked up 2 Hoth Rebel base model kits which he helped get for me long ago. They are both of the base with the interior hangar with snowspeeders, X-wings, etc.  One box was ok and still shrink wrapped. The other was from evilbay and had numerous parts missing.  :banghead: I'll save what I can from the second box, but otherwise, it's a lost cause.

I got 2 options for this:

a) Build a Nazi antarctic base diorama and ditch the Star Wars ships and stuff and replace it with German aircraft, UFO's, German tanks, etc., and have American/Allied aircraft/troops attacking the German base.

b) Same as above, but keep the Star Wars stuff. Have the Germans use the AT-AT's and AT-ST's, etc. to defend their arctic base, while the Americans/Allies use snowspeeders and Rebel troops to attack the German base.
