What if the Spitfire and the Hurricane were not available at the outbreak of hostilities. Britain's aircraft building program was somewhat behind both behind the times and in production numbers. The Ministry decided to build several 'foreign' aircraft under licence.

The Miles M.10 Mildew (Fokker D.XXIII)

Kit is the Replica 1/72 Resin Fokker D-XXIII

The Vickers Wokingham

I'll let you guess this one.... short run plastic kit from the USA. Actually while basic not a bad build.

The Fokker is nice  - an aircraft with a lot of potential.

Have one from RS Models in the pile, to be whiffed, but uncertain what to make from it. I also considered an RAF aircraft, (also) flown by a Dutch unit, but later in the war (Ocean Grey/Dark Green) and maybe in a pimped version with different/bigger engines, e. g. Peregrines. I have two of them left over from my Whirlwind conversion, and here they would fit in size and power...

Nice trio Bungle, the Wokingham reminds me of a Vultee(?) design I think I saw

Three nice builds Bungle: good theme with lots more potential.

The Wokingham is a Curtiss Shrike isn't it?

Another thing to think about: the RAF actually placed an order for Reggiane Re.2000s in 1940... IRL they wern't delivered, but in whiff-world, maybe the Italians didn't join the war until later, or maybe the UK got a licence production deal and built them anyway. Since the Italian engine was the plane's biggest weak point, UK production might use Mercury or Perseus engines, thereby relieving pressure on the Merlin lines.

They built some aircraft of a similar configuration that's for sure but I'd go Curtis A-12 ?

Ah Harold got his in just before me

The Fokker reminds me of a low wing Cessna Skymaster. What if the UK had bought P-40s earlier? Warhawks in the BOB.

Well done gentlemen it is indeed a Curtiss A-12 Shrike. The kit is by Beechnut in very soft plastic that goes together very well.

What if the RAF had had the same interesting in lightweight fighters that the French and Italians had? They might have bought some Mercury-powered Curtiss CW-21 Demons and/or Caudron C.714s for evaluation. Heller do a kit of the latter, and I think I've seen a CW-21 from one of the Eastern European manufacturers.

What if the Air Ministry built the Fokker D.23Z aka D.46 very long range fighter? A flight London-Warsaw back and forth without refuelling would have been possible in 1939... Maybe Germany would not have invaded Poland... another World would have been.

There's an old SH kit and probably others

The Wooksta!

Apparently, the RAF WERE looking at buying Avia B.534s.  Toying with an Eduard one wearing Gladiator markings...

They all look good but the Sea Gladioli is a winner for me!
