Weird scales.  Like the Mars Liner.

With modern technology, I wonder if it would pay them to laser-scan the mould tool for the Mule and then re-scale it to 1/35th?

They all date back to 'fit the box' times though.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Depending on the level of detail it might be easier to start fresh. If what's there is accurate then scanning could be a start point and then add to and improve the detail.

IIRC Dragon did a 1/35 Mule as part of their Vietnam range... though, like the Vietnam Weapons set, it's never been reissued. Maybe sometime??

Plenty of pics on the interweb.

Looks like an overgrown roller-skate or little red wagon.
Was it called a mule because it was stubborn and often refused to move? ;D

No, IIRC the Gama Goat was the beastie that was apparently always being repaired but still broke constantly...

C'mon, Dragon - you already have the moulds for these things, how about a reissue sometime this century?

These aren't new, but they've just caught my attention. Glencoe reissues of ITC's Minikit range, including some interesting and unusual cars in 1/72nd and near-1/48th that would sit very nicely alongside models in those scales. The near-1/56th ones would also work with 28mm gaming figures. Most of these are available from Hannants or through other retailers or ebay, and prices aren't extortionate.

Glencoe's website is here: http://www.glencoemodels.com/
The Minikits are in a separate catalogue to the bigger stuff. Also check out the gallery for some ideas on how to use and whiff their models.

Jaguar XK-120 and Ferrari, both in 1/72nd scale. Would go well with '50s jets:

1903 Cadillac in 1/48th and 1900 Packard in 1/50th scale. Would go well with early biplanes:

MGTD and 1958 Thunderbird, both in 1/72nd scale. Again, '50s or '60s jets:

1914 Stutz Bearcat in 1/56th and 1915 Model T Sedan in 1/59th scale. Probably a bit small alongside 1/48th models, but ideal for wargamers:

GM Le Sabre Concept Car in 1/72nd and an Indy Racer in 1/60th. The Le Sabre is a natural to go with '50 sci-fi models:

1910 Pierce Arrow in 1/59th and 1909 Stanley Steamer in 1/48th. The Steamer is perfect for steampunk, of course:

I hadn't realised the Le Sabre name derived from that 86-esque concept car.  Today I learned!

I once worked with a guy in the USA who had a 1990s Le Sabre which he constantly pronounced as 'Lee Saber'.   Good old Lee!  Which made me wonder if Renault had the same problem when they sold the 5 there as 'Le Car'.

Something to be aware of regarding those car kits, they
don't have any clear parts, all the mouldings are opaque
plastic. It's possible that kits were entirely moulded in
clear plastic when originally released.

Indeed. Here's some pics of them built up from the Glencoe Gallery site:

(This modeller has made the 1/60th Indy Racer into a kid's go-cart via scaleorama and a 1/25th pickup)

Ah, that rings bells. I can recall a small clear plastic bodied MG TD back in the 60s sometime. It may have been one of those ITC kits.
