In reply #1 Rick says he's visualising turning a flying wing on it's side and making it into a spaceship.
In reply #5 Pyro asks Rick if he's been playing Homeworld (a computer game) as it features a spaceship similar to that which Rick is describing.
In reply #7 Rick says no, he thunk it up by his self.
In reply #11 Pyro posts a link to the opening of Homeworld showing a spaceship which looks like a flying wing turned on its side.  Pyro does this to illustrate the point he had made which is that Rick and the designers of Homeworld had been thinking along the same lines.

Capisce?
Fred

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

How about taking two right or two left wings and combining them into a giant spinning bomber? (Obviously unmanned.)

(Wish I could find my old article about the USN's version of the B-35.)
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

A spinning bomber could in theory toss a bomb a fair distance. If it had a gyro stabilized cockpit on motorized bearings in the dead centre it could be manned...

Being a spinning wing it probably wouldn't be classed with conventional aircraft, helicopter or VTOL bomber may be a closer classification.
That's probably not a bad Idas

If you had two XB-49's, you could make an 'X' configuration by joining the noses in the middle, take a bit to re-arrange the engine tailpipes though but it would look like one of those supersonic helicopter ideas where the rotor is locked into position for fast flight.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

That sounds good
