Taking a breather

My 2015 is proving to be MANIC! Nothing new there of course, my entire life has been like that, but this year is worse than most.

My 101 year old Mum (!) has moved into a care home and I'm trying to empty her flat of all the accumulated stuff prior to selling it and that's taking me back and forth to Oxford like a yo-yo.

In addition to that my 'mates' at the Gloucester Model Railway Club' have persuaded me to drag my 20+ year old American N gauge layout out of retirement to show it at this year's Club event in November. As I have over 50 locos and HUNDREDS of freight and passenger cars to check out that's going to take some time, let alone checking and re-wiring the layout and control panels etc.

To add to all that I'm still acting as consultant on the Rapido OO gauge model of the APT-E, due out also in November and someone's contacted me about some input on another book about the APT-E as well!  :o

Try as I might I can't cram more than 24 hrs into each day and I need to sleep for maybe 4.5 of those at least, so something's got to give.

As a result I'm putting a pause on my plastic model building for this year, at least until November anyway, so there won't be much of my output appearing on these pages for a while I'm afraid. I'll still be on here 2-3 times a day as usual, and I'll come along to all the shows I usually attend of course, but I won't have too many new models with me.

I'll still be open for requests for custom made decals, but they may take a little longer to produce for a while.

Ah the retired life of ease.  Can't wait.  Perhaps you should return to work for a quieter time?

Best of luck with all your endeavours.

Wow...you are certainly a busy man, and getting busier ! You won't know what to do with yourself post November  But I'm sure more projects will keep popping up.

Looking forward to the day when we see longer wings around here again. Cheers to you and try and relax a bit as well eh !

Good luck with the other projects Kit, can't help but notice that everything appears to come to a head in November  :banghead:.

Busy man Kit, still it's far better then the alternative

I can honestly say that since I've retired I've never had a moment when I've thought "I'm bored, what the heck shall I do ?"
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I dream of being able to retire & work 16/24, 7/7, 52/52 on model building.  :drink:

However, retirement is a long way off (& getting further away every year! :banghead: ) & building models as I wish is a pipe dream, at best - mushy madness, at worst.

So glad that you will still be here with your words of wisdom Kit and able to produce your decals too. So far I have received three sets from you which appear to be getting used in reverse order. The 3 Squadron markings first for my SR.177, the French markings will be used soon as paint is being applied to the intended model and the first set of marking you sent me, FEAF will be used before the end of the decade.
The main thing is to enjoy what your doing

Good luck with it all Kit - if you feel you're neglecting the forum, you could always post stuff about your train projects: I'm sure there'd be plenty of interest.

Aye well why not Kit, but one does have to ask what are you going to do with your afternoons off.

I think you're having us on and we'll see a dozen builds appear just before Telford!

But if you are taking an extended modelling 'holiday' fhe have lots of fun!
