Bad news.  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

On or about June 6th, I ordered 4 more MCB's so I could have them to build a proper drydock/maintenance facility diorama for my SBY. Well, today and yesterday, I recieved emails saying all four of my MCB orders have been cancelled and refunds would be forthcoming. WHAT THE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     All the places I went to had showed that the items were in stock. I can only assume that they sold out faster than I could get my orders in and that the websites didn't update their listings sooner or something.

I'm sunk. :( Now what the hell am I supposed to do? I only have 3 MCB's so far that I ordered 2 weeks ago. Three isn't enough for a proper drydock display. Anybody got any suggestions? And No, I am not going to Evil-Bay! Please don't suggest that place!
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

P.S. -  Been looking at the parts for the Expansion Set that goes into my SBY. I have to wonder if it's really worth it to paint all the decks and other internal structures when the expansion set is so "hidden" inside that cavity in the rear of the SBY. What do you think? Paint it or not?

And the fighters? Even though they are 1/500 scale, they look more like 1/700 scale instead. Too small for my eyesight. I may have to commission someone to build/paint them for me instead. No way I'm going to be able to do it.

That sucks about the bases.
Can you cast the ones you've got?
You could probably get away with doing it in plaster rather than resin.

Casting extra MCB's in plaster/resin is not an option. I don't have the money, resources, skills, or space in my apt. for a job like that.

Where did you place the now-cancelled order for the bases?

GundamPlanet, and Amazon.

^ They have two versions available

Just the one, with a max. of 3 p.p. from Rakuten, a Japanese Amazon.

They're out there, but getting fewer and fewer.
If I didn't have plans for it I'd ship you mine.

Obviously. Well of course they're getting fewer and fewer. They're highly popular for displaying Gundam robot kits.  :banghead: I want to display a dock/maintenance facility for my SBY, but I need at least 8 bases for my diorama to work. The width of my SBY is too wide for it to sit on one row of 3-4 bases long x 1 base wide. I need a MCB diorama that is 4 bases long x 2 bases wide instead.

No more updates, pictures, etc. till maybe the middle of next week. Right now, I've come down sick with a cold and don't feel like working on anything. :(  In the meantime, enjoy these pages/pics I found on the Net of another spectacular 1/500 SBY build! Pretty awesome!

That's pretty impressive.

Wow is that ever !

I'd spread the sections out and build my own in between. Plywood backing with a styrene façade, then you can add/ replicate bits. How about a large blank section with a big number on it ? That would look cool and hide a section. Maybe make it look like a set of doors ?

Impressive. Yes. But with rigging?  Why would a space battleship need rigging? Kinda stupid IMO.

Just out of curiosity, does my SBY look like it has enough small anti-fighter gun turrets or should I add a few more? If you take a look at some of the pics in those 2 links I provided, you'll see extra small gun turrets on scratchbuilt platforms behind the bridge area that the modeler added. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but am unsure. If I did, it might make my bridge superstructure/deck area too crowded with anti-fighter gun turrets. So..........Yay or Nay?

The other one did look pretty impressive, and I did notice the guns, but only for the way they looked weathered. I'd say it's up to yourself. I think you have more detail on yours as it is, so the extra guns might not be needed. And no rigging either

A few more pics of my SBY. Next week I'll be starting on the interior Hangar Expansion Set probably on Weds.
