1:144 Harrier: Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, apparently.

Wonder if it could still be controlled in the vert in that configuration ? I know it's whif so anything is possible, but I like the idea. Especially for the Afghan ops.
You mean because of the V-tail?

Still don't know what state I'm going to assign it to. All the talk of Russian planes made me wanna slap on some red stars, but what I'd really like is some small low-vis RAF roundels. Anyone know if revell's Eurofighter comes with those? I know they come with german markings. Or should it stay a yankee plane?

Decisions decisions.

Most other markings are on, as is the canopy. I gave the front of the canopy, the windscreen bit, a smoke tint and handpainted the framing. First time I did that in 1/144 and I believe it looks good. I also hung some pods under the wings: one Lantirn that came with the kit, though what they'd use it for I don't know as it carries no weapons, and a scratchbuild jobbie that just looks cool. Made from some clear sprue and sanded into shape. Between the pods and the fuel tanks I'll put hard points with jammers or other stuff, because in my opinion there's too much empty space between them now.

I'd like to pose the thing in-flight, not because it saves me from painting the landing gear but I think it looks better that way. Some jets just look really out of place when parked up, don't you agree? and it saves me from painting the landing gear  ;D

Are there wheels on it in the above pic?
Because the negative dihedral and the length of the wings mean they touch the ground it looks like a bird taking a dust bath!

Which explains why it's so low.
If you only ever took off and landed vertically then you wouldn't need wheels.  Just feet.

Looking at your last picture I find it hard to believe it's 1/144.  Good job Sticky.

I was thinking about the hover, with the puffers at the wing tips, how they'd react it might be a handful. But in the big scheme of things, when something looks this cool who cares eh !

Love the weathering on her. Great job on such a small kit. I like the way a Harrier looks on the ground though

My scratchbuild jammer pods. Wasn't easy making the little prop on the white one  ;D

 Nice! The night pics are a cool touch, just think it deserved a pilot but cool anyway.

I know, but I didn't have one in 1/144 and my sculpting skills are non-existent.

edit: Before I glued it in place, I plugged in the landing gear and, lo & behold, the wingtips did not drag!  :drink:

DogfighterZen

I understand perfectly, sculpting one in 1/72 is difficult enough, let alone in 1/144... :banghead:

Thank you very kindly, gentlemen.

No, that's all farmland, just north of the airforce base. That greyish blob behind the left wing is the city where I live. If I had put that in the middle of the base I would have "lost" the bit of the Wadden Sea you can spot top left.
