I'm now thinking if we had copied off the Nazi's ME-262(Worlds first jet powered aircraft) and used it for the airforce. The Me-262 would halve a paint job. US marking, and cockpits like the F-86 Sabers.

Good idea.  Maybe a P51 canopy?

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Not quite, there were at least three that preceded it.

The USAF would have needed to replace the engines too, their maintenance life was appalling.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

very true engines typically only had a service life of some 10–25 hours

Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

You've  guys got a good point. But if we replicated the Me-262 jet, it would ether be in the us airforce or the navy

Captain Canada

Would look really cool with a Sabre canopy !

If the US built the 262 they could still use the engines design but use better materials than the Germans had access to. Better materials, longer lifespan.

How about hanging a couple of Nenes from it :)

their is a quote from Garland from after the war when he flew the meteor that if the 262 had the British engine then they would of had a true war winning machine

The Jumo 004s were axial flow engines whereas the Nene was a centrifugal engine.

The engine pods would have been fatter so the wing would have needed to be higher off the ground, so the landing gear would have been longer etc. etc.

Or redesign the 262 to fit the Nene engines higher under/into the wing? :-\
