Now to the model.
It is indeed a re-pop of the old Airfix kit which I never built before.

Age has not been kind to it as there is a lot of flash, and the general fit of parts is not so good.

The fuselage halves have only a couple of locating pins left, so I have glued strips of plasticard in place to help it locate properly.
Also the bulkhead for the back of the cockpit area has had to be seriously reduced in size to allow the two fuselage halves to join together.





Fit of the top and bottom sections of the wings is also poor, and a lot of trimming was needed in this area.
Then there is the problem of the locating tabs on the wings being at least 1mm too thick to fit into the slots in the fuselage.

It was like that even when it was new! NOT Airfix's best I'm afraid, the Minicraft one is a lot better, but costs more of course.

Couldn't be worse, however since my LHS in Glasgow has closed I am relying on Hannants for supplies and they do not have it listed at the moment. Not unless you want to buy the "Aircraft of the President" set for £60.
Anyway it is a moot point as it does not have RR Conway engines, an important point considering the back story.

Indeed so, £60 is a bit steep! 

AFAIK the Airfix 707 is the only source of pod mounted Conways in 1/144, maybe in any scale.

Work progresses.
The fuselage halves are stuck together, that took two days of clamping, taping, and praying, to get finished OK.
Now the putty has been applied. That is of course the first layer.
This is my first big use of Narses 2's favourite PPP (Perfect Plastic Putty) so we will see how it goes. Initial impressions are good.
