Second, I used bluetac (white) to mask the wheel wells. DO NOT DO THIS. I had to spend an entire morning digging it all out.

I know how you feel Jim. I've done it a few times, kept doing it as I was at a loss of how else to go about it and just put up with it.  Wooksta came up with a good tip, take a bath sponge, cut little bits off and wedge it in the gap.  Costs pennies and one sponge lasts ages.  I've found you sometimes get a little bleed through, but a little touch up takes care of it.  The more dense the sponge the better.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I find blutac is OK as long as you don't leave it in there for too long.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

In the late 1980's and early 90's a number of A-10a Thunderbolt IIs were released by the U.S. Government for conversion as fire bombers. These proved ideal to the task with all the modifications that were incorporated, new avionics, new engines, removal of the gun and armour thus allowing the carriage of a reasonable load of fire retardant, and with their high speed transit to any target area and great manoeuvrability, they were ideal.
When in the mid 1990's a number of the two-seat all weather/night attack variants became available they were eagerly snapped up by the fire fighting companies.
They became the preferred mount of the Firebosses as lead planes, as with a fully qualified fire fighter pilot flying, the Fireboss (himself a very experienced fire fighting pilot) in the back seat could pay much more attention to directing the whole operation.
One of these aircraft is depicted here in the markings of the Grace L. Ferguson, Arial Firefighting and Storm Door company. Who under the guidance of their CEO, George Robert (Bob) Newhart were the first to field one of these aircraft.

Turned out really well Jim

I've only tried to use Blue Tack for modelling on a few occasions and never again. Not only can it be a pain to remove (I take the point it may have been in there to long) but it leaves a hard to remove residue on vacform canopies when trying to cut them out.

As for sponges the £1 Store is your friend. 3 large sponges for car washing for guess and 7 kitchen type small sponges with an abrasive back for guess ?  ;D The sponge on the kitchen ones is very dense and will hold its position nicely when put in place.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Wish I'd done one firefighter . Lovely colours and finish, the stripes are particularly striking .

Captain Canada

That really turned out great ! Love the colour and markings, as well as the firefighting gear.

Looks like it's missing an E though

Tod,

you will need to ask Mrs. Ferguson why she wanted it spelt that way.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

No idea who Grace L. Ferguson is, but love the build Jim, great work.

I love the wing markings. Very Gulfhawk-esque.

Well Logan,

the entire colourscheme would have been even more GulfHawkish if the white transfer stripes had not fallen apart.
Mind you I had not thought of that connection when I decided on it.
